- OZEKY is the name everyone knows me by . I am just an ordinary island boy , struggling and trying to live life to its fullest here on Hawaii to support and provide for my small family.
I was born in chuuk and was relocated to Guam for better education in 1990’s . From Guam to Seattle and Seattle to Honolulu.
With an undeniable passion for music I started playing keyboard at a young age . Growing up Music was always my run to hobby. I play for my Elementary school choir, for churches & lastly for fun.
I started releasing albums year after year until it finally captured the whole FSM ears .
Music has been an Integral part of my life , that whenever I don’t find the time or the opportunity to create beats, make music , I don’t feel whole , as if something is missing until I come home from work , sit down by my keyboard and relax myself with some sweet melody.
I am now busy with Other projects through work which I do catering and partnered with Da Spot Health and Juices servicing the whole Local community here in Hawaii. I am also involved with the Chuukese community ( Micronesian ) to better educate our young youth.
“Notable past performance gave me the courage to sway by the wave of what TODAY brings, for I know yesterday is past and tomorrow never comes” - Ozeky
Always put your trust in Gods hands for he has the key to your future and the light of your path to guide you through it all.

In my culture on our island, Satawal, the most important to pass on to your kids and other family members are: canoe building, fishing, cooking, farming, navigation, medicine, weather forecasting, respect, self defense, knowing your maternal and paternal relationship, clan lineage, and house building. In fact all of the things mentioned were already included in the school curriculum.
True, I believe that Satawal Island knows allot more than other Micronesians. Back in years ago, Chief Agharubw was the one who went out with his man to look for and Island to live in. He found Saipan and ask the Spanish who was in Guam which they handle the Guaminians. And Hawaiian, please look it up who was the one who sail to your Island, back in 1990S. I wouldn't talk to a young man about their medicine cultures. Lol. But he did good to find a way to help his business. $$$$$$
Omg satawal hi this is your twin from chuuk satowan
@@rjoyzsimor1308 hahahahaha
I saw your dad, I was so small maybe around 10 years old, but i usually watched him drinking and enjoying with his keyboard.. @ bou near the water fountain.
Aloha to you both. I would like to add on to the three things He says are important to us. These are the following Religion, Respect, Peace, Love, languages, dances and musics are important to us. :) These are part of our everyday lives back home. We grew up with these things similar to the Hawaiian Culture. :) And also our local food sea food, bread fruits, bananas, taro. :)
And so yes let’s talk more about what is Micronesia. So, Micronesia means small or tiny islands country in the western Pacific Ocean. The name Micronesia was given/ proposed to distinguish the region in 1831 by Jules Dumont. Jules Sébastien César Dumont d'Urville was a French explorer and naval officer who explored the south and western Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, and Antarctica. As a botanist and cartographer, he gave his name to several seaweeds, plants and shrubs, and places such as d'Urville Island in New Zealand.
Back to the main topic Micronesia. :) Micronesia is composed of more than 600 plus islands in the Caroline Islands and is divided roughly along cultural and linguistic lines into the states from west to east Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei, and Kosrae.
1. Yap State is actually made up of four separate islands: Yap Proper (Marbaaq), Gagil-Tamil, Maap (Yapese: Maap′), and Rumung. The four islands are separated by relatively narrow water features, and the islands are surrounded by a common coral reef.
2. Chuuk State is comprised of the collection of volcanic islands within the Chuuk Lagoon and some 24 outer-island atolls --some 290 islands total.
3. Pohnpei State incorporates Pohnpei Main Island, a large volcanic island with eight atolls totaling 344 square miles, 25 smaller islands with in a barrier reef, and 137 widely scattered coral atolls. Pohnpei is one of the four states of Micronesia and is the capital of Federated States Micronesia.
4. The State of Kosrae includes the main island of Kosrae and a few nearby islands and islets, the most significant of which (Lelu Island) is inhabited by 1,500 people.
Mahalo to you both. 🤝❤️🙏
Thanks for sharing! What's interesting to me is how Yap is surrounded by a coral reef and parts of Chuuk is in a lagoon. It certainly looks fascinating from Google maps.
Aloha e Ilene! Mahalo Mahalo Mahalo for sharing your knowledge with us! I appreciate you! ..and maybe one day I can have you as a guest!!
You describe the FSM, the federated states of Micronesian but not the whole of Micronesia which would also include Guam, Palau, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru….
@@TheFlyingFish692 Aloha Shino! Yes, I will slowly introduce the other islands of Micronesia. There are not a lot of people who know this. I will be having friends and leaders from other islands on soon. If you know of anyone from other islands that would like to be a guest, please let me know!
Just want to share or add to this nice conversation or dialog about Micronesia. Let's not forget that Micronesian are not just the people form the four states of FSM, Micronesia is the WHOLE region of northwest pacific island nations INCLUDING the Marshall Islands, Palau and those islands nation mentioned.
You should add navigation to that important list. We are recognized well because of that talent we preserve and taught to our kids for many yrs. Who sails around the world using only stars, fish, ocean movent? We are!!!
Such a unique way to start an interview 💖. Way to go Ozeky! Always been an inspiration to all. Enjoyed the interview!!

Men roles in Society is pretty simple. Fish, farm & give the women & her family kids.
Women on the other hand play a more important part. They pass on the clan name, land & house.
They are peace keepers & decision makers. A chief cannot make any decision without a female relative.
There is a saying we go by “you are not a man if u do not have a sister”
Thanks Ozeky and Makani. Aloha.
Thank you for watching!
Wow I only seen Ozeky in music videos. First time I see him sitting down and talking. I was introduced to his music when my cousins made me a myspace back in 2004 and my first myspace profile song was "ifa itom" by Ozeky lol. waiooooo

Our cultures are so unique but there are some things that we have in common. I think maybe because we are ocean people especially the Pacific Islanders. We were born with the ocean and breathe it.
Whether Polynesian,Micronesian or Melanesian..Nesian pride to all our cousins of the Pacific Oceania
chuukese word for family is " INEPWIINEU" I think...lol

Just to share and add on how FSM or Micronesians are the same and at the same time different... TOP Importance on my part of Micronesia 1. Expressions of Language (RESPECT of Culture-tiahk in Pohnpei & Fwacsin in Kosrae) 2. Family (Everyone are Included and Family comes first. You are never just you...you are part of) and 3. Trade (As Micronesian from Kosrae and from Pohnpei, I am expected to understand my role, know how to act in cultural settings, and appreciate to learn family trades because each family have their own trade ( the canoe builders, the fishermans, the fafa pounders, the weavers, etc.) JFYI ...in Micronesia Pohnpei and Kosrae, the male and elders are the leaders of the family so there are treatment of authority respect . Saying this does not degrade women's importance. However even if the Micronesian women don't VOICE out. The Micronesian women's roles has depth of RESPECT in the family and community! my one cent to Micronesian Culture

Really hard to translate Chuukese to English... For Ex: Fongumw ei pwipwi.. Inemesumw .. 😆 🤣 😂 😹
Only Yap and Palau has its own languages, nuclear languages. Yapese Outer Islands all the way to the RMI speak Trukik, which is the Chuukese language broken into its own unique dialect.
The Chuukic language branch stops in the mortlocks. Starts in Palau outer Islands.
@@santospaul8103 So I assume you're from the area and not just a "scholar" or else you can explain why Chuukese language is understood in the Yapese Outer Islands and among the Carolinians...but then you're the expert teaching that in your curriculum so I would have to bow and leave.
@@santospaul8103 Palau Outer Islands language are based solely on the navigators who got swiped away by storms and landed in the O.I. of Palau. Guam and CNMI Carolinians are a different story, but basically the same language.
So you’re telling me Kosraen,Pohnpeian,Marshallese,Ngatikese,Mwokilese,Pingelapese are all Trukik?
@@fuckstevejobs6879that's interesting for sure. Marshallese and Chuukese don't sound the same to me. (Rimajol here) 😮
Hi
One person from one State of the FSM is not representative of Micronesia! Each State has its own different culture. Your guest can speak of the Chuukese culture, but his culture is definitely not the same as the others.
Thank you for your comment and for taking the time to watch the video.
White stuff is the lime stone
no no no no You're wrong about women making decisions. I don't know about other islands or states but not in pohnpei. Come on SMH
Lol back then in Pohnpei it was always traditionally the Women who held the most power, ALL Of Micronesia is like this, Pohnpeian women used to give the Pelipel to the men they wanna marry. But nowadays we have forgotten our past
Pwipwi ejok pwan menukii ewe inepwinèw
