This will sound weird but bear with me. Living in a place where you can experience all 4 seasons, in my opinion, has a way of bringing you closer to our Heavenly Creator. I can't rightly explain it. It just does.

I think that is beautiful. In the Catholic Church, we live the liturgical year in seasons, and they reflect and respond to the time of the year for you in the Northern Hemisphere - for example, the darkness of winter for Advent, the awaiting of renewal and new life during lent/Easter and spring.
I agree that this house was hand-picked for you. I felt that way when you did the empty house tour. I thought maybe you purchased the house from a relative who had similar taste. I'm excited to see you make this house a home.

We built a beautiful home that I was able to choose everything that I liked. I did feel a lot of pressure and sometimes doubted my decisions. When we later moved to another home I decided that I would embrace the home how it was, even if some things I would not have chosen. I decorated with things we previously had and didn’t buy anything new. I really like how it turned out and I like being content and not always seeking to improve something.

I came to tears of joy for you a couple of times throughout this video. Everything, including your beautiful round table, has come together in such a special way. A common thread being that people who are letting go of these items (or house) are handing them off to someone who will appreciate and cherish them…you!

So excited for this new chapter in your life. Moving can be so stressful especially when you have a family. For us it’s just not worth living in a historic home when you have people walking in your yard begging for money. My children can’t even enjoy the outdoors because someone’s always walking on the sidewalks staring at us or saying something inappropriate. I’ve had enough to make me move asap.

I love your approach to keeping things as is and incorporating your style around it. We did this when we moved to a larger new home. I made a commitment to doing things on a budget and not getting into debt to update things that were in great condition.

Mrs. Mitchell here. We moved almost three years ago ( 5 hours from where we had lived all of our lives) to be closer to our daughters and their families. We brought the furniture we thought would work in the new home but pared down so many decor items. We found Habitat
ReStores to be a great place to find nice furniture - case goods as well as upholstered items. We still visit on Tuesday with for 20% off days here in VA. It's a treasure hunt every week! Also, our Goodwills,although very hit or miss, produced a pair of wing back chairs as well as a pair of porcelain garden seats for a fraction of what we would have paid otherwise.
So looking forward to seeing how you make this new home yours. God bless you and your family during this exciting time of transition.
The two things I have missed living in Arizona are the seasons, and trees. I miss changing seasons. Here we have two seasons, Hell and lovely. But no real spring, fall, or winter.

That 5 foot of snow sounds like more than enough project lol. That's unfortunate what happened with all of those chickens in Vegas. The amount of windows did stand out to me as a definite bonus. I love that dreamy look with the curtains.

I love the South, but have not really adjusted to the short Autumn season after all these years. That is because Autumn is my favorite.

It’s funny I to thought of the interior designer who made such beautiful choices in my new home. Our family bought a builders show home and it was exactly my taste! Moving 1 1/2 hours from my old home changed my life! I felt more like myself in my new home and town than I ever did in my entire life☺️ Enjoy your new home 💕

Loved this chat. It's fun to see your new home. I live in Montana, where it gets really cold. Our home is all carpeted as well, and I get it professionally cleaned once a year on the anniversary of our move in date. It's quite reasonably priced and makes it all look new. I'm also a huge fan of the shark robot vacuum, especially for dog hair, as it cleans every day, and I don't have to. Thanks for sharing your journey. It's so neat to see you happy and glowing. Don't worry too much about the cold. By the time I put on thick tights, maybe leggings, boots, a slip and a warm skirt, I'm much warmer in a skirt or dress than in pants. It's like putting a blanket on over your layers!
I agree! It’s wonderful to layer a dress and I feel so much warmer that way than in pants without feeling bulky. I really recommend some merino wool leggings. I live in Michigan and it can get really cold.

5 feet will be more in the mountains, most likely not the valley floor. And it melts in between, it doesn’t stick. I cannot BELIEVE how warm this October has been here in Utah!!! I hope we are not in for a warm and dry winter.

The house i live in was built in the early 80's and so much of it was outdated. Weve been here 8 years this november and the kitchen is falling apart. So im putting some extra cash away to save up for a new kitchen. But im hoping by this time next year i will have enough to renovate. I was never fond of it, but i made it functional. Aesthetics i knew would come later. After that, i plan on renovating all of our bathrooms and a smaller, second kitchen we have.
I love your house,but if it were mine id change out the carpet, change the kitchen counters and upgrade appliances and renovate the laundry. But thats me. And i can see those spaces are functional. And we are so fortunate to have a roof over our heads in the first place. ❤️
By the way, I bet the doggies are having all kinds of fun running around and discovering that new space!

It’s like moving from a land of darkness to light 🙌🏼 If you think this may be your forever home then don’t limit yourself with “resale value” when you want to do something different or unique. If selling in the future becomes a thing you can restore it back or leave it as is. If the new buyers want to change something then that can be worked onto the final agreements. Any new buyer will come in and change things according to their style and preference anyway … hard lesson learned 😑 Sound like your mom is such a blessing and very helpful and self-less❤. I will be back 😊
I agree! We aren’t considering this to be our forever home. This home is perfect for our current season while the girls are still with us. I was considering him and what would be best in the winter while working out (smaller room) and resale value but I agree it shouldn’t be the sole focus. Things need to be comfortable for the ones living in it and that is top priority.

We had 20 feet of snow last year because we are 5800 elevation in the mountains. Your first winter will be a shocker but you will get use to it. When I moved to Oregon 22 years ago from California my first winter I thought I was going to die lol ❤

We aren’t looking at this home as a forever home but it’s what got us here. It’s perfect for our current season while the girls are with us.

It all sounds like something that was divinely ordained for you, Jorge and your family. I love how houses yourself following in the footsteps of the last lady of the house. Is house training dogs not as common in the USA or do your dogs have disabilities? I don't have any carpet in my house and our dog can go anywhere, on beds and sofas, but my parents have fully carpeted home and three dogs. It's typical here to house train.
They are definitely house trained but they love going on carpet (maybe it reminds them of grass?) for some reason or scooting on it. Anytime there was a rug etc. they would go on it. I’m not willing to test it out and give them full run of the house, that’s far too much carpet and the smell will never leave no matter how much one cleans it. We’ve been down this road too many times.
Oh yes, when they feel like they need to "wipe their bottom" it is never a good outcome! Th carpet in the new home is so lovely too. As you say, not a road to go down!

Absolutely! We are a no-shoes home now, just like my Dad always had it! Thankfully Jorge was willing to implement this for the sake of the carpet. I’ll cover the rest in tomorrow’s video 🌹

Thank you for your question though tomorrow’s video was already recorded and set to post. We didn’t purchase thinking this would be our forever home as some would say. It was purchased specifically with our current season of life in mind, while the girls are with us. There’s no telling what the future may hold or what plans God has for us🌹

I was just looking on Zillow…. Because of Daniels cancer 🥺we have put it up for sale because he can no longer shovel snow. The transplant is scheduled for October 21, then 6 weeks of isolation then 6-8 months to get stronger. This house is on 121 acres so it’s quit an estate therefore it will take a long time to sell. So I was looking on Zillow today ❤❤❤ p.s. I love that kitchen table great score!
In regards to the second question, i feel like they were tip toeing around a bit, but Utah is overwhelmingly mormon, so do you attend a mormon temple? I remember in Las Vegas you attended a baptist church, so i assumed youd be attending one there.
Hmmm, I’ve never attended a Baptist church, so this is news to me. Though there are a significant number of Mormons here, if I were one, I would have said I was LDS. The question was, “What religion are you?” I’m a Christian and don’t identify with any denomination. Both of those you named are considered denominations as far as what is written in the Bible. Christ’s church is named in the Bible. If one asked, “What is the name of the church you attend?” I’d say the church of Christ. I didn’t consider myself to be tip toeing but hopefully that clarifies things for you and of whom I follow🌹
