Cabochard was one of my absolute favourite perfumes throughout the '70s and '80s. Gorgeous scent, green, leathery, and a bit of tobacco, all in such beautiful crystal packaging. It was to die for. For some reason I stopped wearing it for over 15 years and when I decided to revisit my old favourite, I was very saddened to find it no longer smelled the same. My loss. Happy to hear you do like the new formulation.
You gotta be, once you really get into perfumes, don't you? When I was more into makeup, then fragrances, I thought that was an expensive hobby.. Hoho little did I know 😆 perfumerie is probably one of the most expensive domains in style and beauty 😅
Thank you for reviewing vintage perfumes. Have you ever tried Magie Noire, Aramis, Aramis Devon, Estee Lauder Beautiful? I might buy them in the future from my aunt.
I'm wondering if you've tried Shem El Nessim or Phul Nana by Grossmith? They're in a league of their own in terms of fragrance personality and totally out of vogue at the moment. People either connect with their profiles or they just don't 'get' them. I'd love to know what you think. What compels and intrigues me is that when I smell them I draw a blank when trying to visualise the kind of woman under 75 who may wear them. The other fragrance that makes me see a blank grey square when trying to conjure up the natural wearer of it is 'Mamluk' by Xerjoff. I try to 'see' a woman, any woman, when inhaling and I just see a grey tile. It's intensely compelling. I have no idea 'who' the Mamluk woman is, who would have this as their signature fragrance. I can't see her. Are there any fragrances that stump you in this way too?
One of the most beautiful chypres I've ever had is Niki de St Phalle ( nobody talks about it). For me, there's nothing like that. I'm a huge chypre lover. Unfortunately, all those reformulations have been a disaster for all of us who tried all those beautiful original formulations back in the 70's and the 80's. Unfortunately, I can't rely on any "vintage" perfume. I just try new fragrances and I find that many of them, especially the niche ones, try to reinvent the wheel, producing scents that have already been there before but that is probably something that younger people won't ever be able to compare because those fragrances just don't exist anymore. Paloma Picasso, Magie Noire, Halston, Maxim's de Paris, Beautiful, White Linen.... just to mention a few designer ones, they don't smell the same. The very first Calvin Klein fragrance before Obsession, absolutely beautiful, which nobody seems to know, doesn't exist anymore. I love your " library" and your necklace. 😍🌷
I follow a similar path , when it comes to vintage vs contemporary, maybe even more shifted toward contemporary. When it comes to "makes chypres great again" and all other reactionist movements, I do not know of a single factually backed or meaningful example , when they led to good things happening. One exception being environmentalism , e.g. planting back trees and recovering land for nature sanctuaries. There were genius actresses in 18th century , incredible fashion pieces in 15th century, amazing salads made in 19th, iconic fragrances in 20th , and etc. The fact that we can't enjoy all best things from the past now is not an objective tragedy. As long as people continue to create and support each other, there will be new genius products, creations and innovations 😊
Hehe I'm aware of skin testing 😆 however quite a challenge in the middle of global pandemic for any fragrance that is not new flanker in the mass market category. I don't know of a single place in Florida that showcases histoires de parfums, l'artisan parfumeur, great, Ted lapidus, and etc. 😊
I love to layer this one with their more floral Cabotine. What you get is a lovely green floral bomb that is 100% unisex. And unique without being too heady. I can't stop sniffing myself..
Hi! It's a pity that you didn't meet any Joe Malone that you liked. I adore their black cedar wood and juniper and myrrth and tonka, they both are not smth romantic floral)
Hehe let me be clear: they are all cute. I would like them all for a more adequate price ;)) my only gripe is 100$ pricing for mass market quality of colognes .
You’re into Chypres? A little spoiler, one of the vials I sent you is Floral Chypre ( by The Different Company)🥰hope you like it and another spoiler;) it’s a clone of Enjoy by Jean Patou( it used to be my Signature scent before I discovered Botega Venetta Eau Legere❤️)
it makes two of us ;)) every time i speak of it on my other channel i get a thousand of comments, like "but they are not bad!" it seems that despite me repeating over and over, that they are cute, just severely overprices for what they are, the message gets lost :))
I'm interested in Cabochard Cherie but there aren't many reviews. Has anyone tried it?

oh what a story! i hear many old chypres lost their zest and depth due to reformulations..
Great video! ❤️ Your cost consciousness is relatable - I am also put off when I feel I’m being overcharged (and I love a deal) 🤗

😂Girl... when you said that about the new "silicon valley perfume start ups"... Trust me I subscribed faster than hand could reach the screen
lol

Have magie noir in my wishlist as a matter of fact!

I would love to hear your opinion on Ted Lapidus Creation.. Another classic chypre I'm considering.
have it, prefer it in the shower gel formula rather than a personal fragrance ))
Wishing you luck on your quest for the Amouraud! And love your videos - keep talking!
thank you:)) one day.. one day it will be mine;)

You and Super Dakob have a similar love of perfume and expression that I am totally here for. Have you watched his fragrance reviews?
Aww thanks, Love! Haven't had in my recommendation s yet, will check him out
Maria Meliora just a head’s up: it’s a LOT of Chanel 😆 That’s what he collects.
I second Super Dakob, articulate and passionate.
Sample on skin before buying. This is why Scent bird and other services are handy. Blind buys are rolling the dice. Great review

Tea Rose Amber is also lovely
oh i didn't know that tea rose had a flanker
Thanks Maria, you are the hero! Love your work. Fragrance vendors would do well to watch your channel!
Wow, thank you! in my dream they would indeed :)))
You are so knowledgeable. I have really enjoyed your content. Thank you 😊 ✨

You’re my perfume hero! 💗
Awww thank you 😊

oh no spoiler please!!! :))))
Maria Meliora 🤐🤐🤐
Would you please try the chypre Anne Klein blazer and review it? It's under 13.00 on Ebay and the seller is legit.
no problem, feel free to send it my way, if you want me to test it for you;)
In French, -ch- always reads -ш- :)
noted!
Agree, Jo Malone is waaaaaaay overpriced🙄

And Jo Malone performance is horrible. Disappears from the skin in five minutes. Waste of money. Jo Malone is a rip off.
Маша, да Кабошар же! Не издевался
