I remember watching an interview on UA-cam, in which she tells the story of how she tore her Iris, now to find out that isn't the real story, that hits different
And the way that she laughed it off too, and no one knew at all about what she was facing. It really hits home.

Breaking out of an abusive relationship is a process. It took my friend almost 2 years to feel finally free of her abuser. I can't count sleepless nights when I stayed guard at her home, while he was sitting in a car across the street.

@@jibrael5705 I think a lot of cases are that the person who's being abused doesn't recognise the abuse, they just think that they need to help (,,save") the abuser, who's just a troubled person. It took my friend 2 years to fully leave him, because it took us (her friends) 2 years to show her that she can't save him, and that he is hurting her (,,No, that's not some twisted way of showing love.").

I don’t care for her show Supergirl, but I’m sure the role has turned Benoist into a role model for young girls. This video does more than wearing a cape and pretending to fight aliens. I recall her doing interviews before the show came out and telling a story of wearing an eye patch to a costume fitting. She laughed about how it looked to dress as Supergirl wearing an eye patch. Now it’s clear why she had the eye patch and that she was laughing to hide the pain. One last thing. I’ve heard people trash her for having such a short marriage. But now when people criticize women for divorcing after a short time, maybe they shouldn’t assume too much. They don’t know what’s going on behind closed doors.

She is so incredibly brave and sharing the details is so important, because it shows people that abuse can come in all shapes and sizes and usually increases over time.
That's one of the things I was thinking about while I was watching and listening to what she was saying. I only know a fraction of how hard it is to open up about something so dark, which goes to show how strong and brave Melissa is. I really commend her for gathering the strength to broadcast her story in her own words because every time a person opens up about past or current situations, it helps another person, which I think is incredible.
So yeah, somewhere in my mind I was thinking that Chris was sat close by for moral/emotional support, and more than ready to give her the comfort she needed afterwards. After everything she's been through, I really hope she's found the happiness she deserves with Chris- and she must've done, considering they're married now.

The fact that she still wanted to protect her abuser’s feelings shows how BIG her heart is. a real life supergirl and most importantly a great human being, someone who Blake isn’t even a shadow of!!
It shows she's doing all this bullshit for attention. She doesn't name him, she doesn't take him to court. It's all "poor me, feel sad for me, I'm a victim, me, me, me!". She wants to be seen as a victim and get media attention.

Everytime someone with a platform like this speaks up it reminds the world that survivors like us are still out here. Keeping the conversation about domestic violence going is so important and as a survivor myself I feel so much for her and connect so intensely with her story. Melissa's story makes me want to cry. I've just had emotional abuse throughout my life but it wasn't just one person, so it's kind of hard to pin it on one person, but I grew up, and am a mother of 4 beautiful children, and I realize that a person can not take back the past, but I can make a better future for my children. I can give them lots of love and positive reassurance. This is all you can do. Just live out your life to its fullness, leave the past behind, and make a brighter future.

When I first heard about this, I was taken aback. After watching this and hearing her opening up about her experience with domestic violence and being a survivor, I am moved to tears. I am still processing it and my heart is breaking. I can't even imagine the ordeal and trauma she went through and I know how hard it was for her to share her story. Melissa is not only incredibly brave but such a beautiful person inside and out. I pray that God will continue to give her courage to share her testimony with people and to inspire hope. In one interview she got asked about embarrassing moments on the supergirl set and she talked about getting accidentally punched in the face during a supergirl scene, and she said that when she saw the fist coming she thought "omgggg I've never been punched before what is gonna feel like?"
It's horrible because she actually did know how it felt.

I remember when she married Blake so quickly I remember thinking, man it looks like he's trying to lock her down. And then when he showed up on Supergirl I remember thinking that it felt like he was there trying to keep an eye on her. His vibe just never seemed right.
What's weird to me is I believe she got into it with a female co-star because she felt the co-star was trying to steal her then boyfriend now husband who is also an actor on Supergirl playing Mon-El.

We tend to think of celebrities as having a charmed lives but this puts things in perspective that success doesn’t always mean happiness. I hope your marriage to Chris brings healing and happiness. Me being a old guy, have struggled with depression since I served in Vietnam over 50 years ago, so I know the struggle is real. Ps. I have a daughter just your age, and I feel rage thinking a man could bully a young woman like that.

This is so an important message. I am also a survivor of domestic violence and will feel the pain for the rest of my life. It is truly humiliating to be handled as an object you can hit and throw away. I brought my abuser to court because hitting someone in public is a crime but it is so difficult to prove violence indoors because of all the lies surrounding abuse. Thank you Melissa for speaking up. This is so emotionally hard to do. But I truly believe that healing is real and can be found.

That happened when she was in a relation ship with Blake ( she talked about it on a jimmy fallon episode, at the time her and jenner were still married) she even said the same thing about the nemo character, blake is also younger than her which matches her description of her abuser. The only other person who she was with(publicly as an adult) was a photographer who was older than her.

This woman IS Supergirl. She is so strong and so courageous for sharing this. I feel so terrible for what she went through. I’m just so glad that she found Chris on the set of Supergirl. He is someone that treats her well. You can see it in how he acts with her. Blake was always a little off now that I think about it. There seemed to be an underlying tension.

I want everyone to message Richard Linklater somehow and beg him to recast Blake Jenner. Blake is set to be in Merrily We Roll Along, a musical adaptation that will be shot over 20 years. It thankfully hasn’t started shooting yet and is in pre-production, so there’s still time. I don’t think anyone wants this guy to have a 20 year long career.
I get that she didn’t name him, but all signs point to him being the one, enough to where she might as well have done so.

Hearing Melissa share her IPV story was heart-breaking. But I understood that it took her a while to gradually heal and have the tremendous courage to speak up. The more that we choose not to talk about domestic violence, the more we shy away from the issue, the more we lose.

she’s such a bubbly person it’s hard to imagine all this dark stuff happening, I hope she plucks up the courage to press charges and get that scumbag behind bars

I only know about you because of Supergirl, that was years ago. I searched you because i wanted to see what type of exhilarating story, film, or work you are doing now days but this is a totally different woman i see before my little green eyes.
That guy needs a lesson. My brother physically abused me for a year or two till my mother and father kicked him out the house into a flat with help. He has problems like anyone does but he changed my life forever.
I got out unharmed but only on the outside. My brain is a little upside down, you know. Hear voices rarely, think people are stalking me. That stuff.
YOU know what stops that stuff from reaching my heart... Be a superhero just like MB, and live life strong healthy and proud... Proud of being me!

I feel so sorry for her, and for every other victim of domestic abuse. I have tremendous respect for her to be able to end the relationship, to get out of the cicle, and wish her all the best for her healing journey
Melissa, you’re incredibly brave to share a story like this I understand how hard it must’ve been for you share a story about being victim of domestic violence and i understand how terrible something like this is. That being said I’m really sorry that you were a victim of domestic violence and I praise you for sharing this story.
I am so sorry you Melissa you experience something so terrible and unthinkable no person deserves something like this. I am happy for that you find someone as good and kind as Chris Wood and I happy for both of you. You two are amazing couple. You are really a strong person to get through something like this.

Narcissistic and Psychopath Abuse, here is to all the survivors and thanks for bringing more awareness to this. I never got to the physical, but there were suggestions at times.
