  • Austin Texas Bats! A million of them!
The Austin bats are among the top tourist attractions in Texas. Every day between late July and early November, 1.5 million bats leave their homes underneath the S. Congress bridge downtown and go search for food. This is the largest urban bat colony in North America.
Every year in March, 750,000 pregnant Mexican free-tailed bats arrive in Austin coming from Mexico. In June they give birth. Between March and June, it's also possible to see them, although in less quantity.

Wow! That's a lot of bats!I saw the same thing this summer in Battambang, Cambodia. Millions of them came flying out of a cave right around sunset.

You got some amazing footage of the bats. I have seen them in Austin under that brigde but they were kind of hard to see because of lighting and how small they were. All the facts were great too.
