  • Those bricks which have not been standardised in size are called traditional or conventional bricks. The dimensions of traditional bricks vary and depend on region and place. The length varies from 210 mm to 250 mm, the width varies from 100 mm to 130 mm and the thickness varies from 70 mm to 100 mm.
This includes 10 mm mortar joints, and so the standard size for a brick itself is 215 mm x 102.5 mm x 65 mm (length x depth x height). Bricks used in masonry are of two types. Traditional Bricks. Traditional Bricks are those which have not been standardized in size.
What is the difference between traditional and modular bricks?
Is a modular brick and a conventional brick the same? - Quora
Traditional bricks were used earlier predominantly and were called FPS bricks having size of 230*110*76mm but with the introduction of SI units these were changed accordingly by modular bricks as per BIS and dimensions are of 190*90*90 mm so that with the laying of 1 Cm thk mortar the dimensions become 200*100*100 and
What is the difference between standard brick and nominal brick?
Brick Size and Type to Choose for Construction
Brick size: Standard size and nominal size
In India, clay is burned in a kiln to create bricks. Bricks that are standard size are 190 x 90 x 90 mm without mortar. The nominal size is defined as 200 x 100 x 100 mm for bricks with mortar (10 mm)
The most popular brick size is a Modular brick measuring at 3-5/8" thick by 2-1/4" high and 7-5/8" long. Thin Brick are also available in many of the sizes listed below. The largest unit manufactured by Glen-Gery is a Double Titan Plus, which is 7-5/8" thick and high by 15-5/8" (nominally 8x8x16).
    How are traditional bricks made?
Essentially, brick are produced by mixing ground clay with water, forming the clay into the desired shape, and drying and firing. In ancient times, all molding was performed by hand.
What is the weight of traditional brick?
    about 3 to 3.5 kg
Hence the average weight of a brick is about 3 to 3.5 kg.
What is the strength of traditional brick?
Explanation: Compressive strength of following types of bricks is given below: First-class bricks - 10.5 N/mm2. Common building bricks - 3.5 N/mm.
