Thanks Ash! Tried these out with my 8 year old yesterday and it completely transformed our tennis practice. No frustration, just learning while having fun and hitting balls better than ever 😊.
Great tips! Had problems with hitting the ball right the last few sessions. Today I tried going for shorter swings and better positioning and immediately felt better on court!
Love the catch match. I'm a bit hesitant to do this with my adult players in a group session though. They might think it's a waste of their money (whereas we know it's super important). I do it with my red and orange players a lot! Also with a football or handball. Tennis balls are sometimes still hard to catch when moving for the red ball players, plus the advantage of using a bigger ball is that they need two hands to catch and throw it, so they already get used to coiling their bodies when doing it properly.
@@sergiosimbula You could use it as a warm up game, especially if they are more advanced players. There are also variations where if you catch the ball without a bounce, you can throw overarm and stuff like that
@@Robin-bn4qi i like that variation! I indeed also do it with more advanced players, but I'd say 75% of my groups are of a little lower level and they'd be between 45-55. But also some groups that are younger but they would feel awkward doing these type of drills or wouldn't see the need and relevance. Also I have some lessons that are only 45 min, and in those cases I also find it a bit too much to have them spend too much time without a racket in their hands. With my more advanced players I do tons of mini court games. I used to love them when I was younger too. Gives you so much feel and develops so many aspects of your game, while having fun.
These drills look useful but I've never known any tennis buddies who'd want to do something like this. They just want to hit, except maybe a cross court drill, or practice volleys and overheads.
You’re right! It’s a challenge that coaches face as most players want to work on their strokes, but the real progress is found in drills/games like these!

Nice one! I hope that intermediate and advanced players also take a look at this! Congrats! And thanks 👏

I agree with everything that you said! I also like using a football for the kids. It teaches so many skills without them knowing it! Great fun 🎾⚽️🏀

@@sergiosimbula The variation definitely encourages coming to the net to finish the point more easily
