Its not just that. Look at the changes in finance rules, oil drilling regulations, health care, defense contracts, private prison contracts, pharmaceutical lobbying. This is a Golden Age for making money if you're part of the game. The problem is the players are also the ones making the rules.

Good point. It's just his 'tremenduous' ego that counts. He wants to look like a big strong manly man like his idol Putin. Nero might have been pretty vain, but even if the historians of the time were not just out to discredit him, he at least thought that his country should be the centre of the world and needed a cultural change in order to deserve this position, not that necessarily he himself was that centre of the world and that he should run Rome into the ground to fill the pockets of himself and everyone who keeps stroking his ego. Nero's massive spending on the rebuilding of Rome after the great fire when everyone had already given up on the capital is a good example of that.
If Washington DC would get burned to the ground tomorrow, Trump would just move to the Mar-a-Lago and tweet that everything is fine and that these millions of dead and homeless are just fake news or dirty liberals who had it coming.

I'm pretty sure all my dead Republican relatives would be horrified at what has become of the party they all subscribed to.
