I feel like this time it wasn't mental gap... well maybe game 4 when FNC went macro afk really quick. Imo it was pure macro diff and g2 won fair and square. Humanoid even said in an interview that they just look for fights. Also feels like leaving Brand for Yike was a big mistake as well.
Great podcast fellas! Just a tiny correction, Eyla actually hadn't gone to worlds. He has been super close multiple times (last yr with EG 1 series away), and Cubby probs was thinking of his OCE days, which he was also one series away from going to Wildcard Tournament back when they had it in 2019. So its huge for everyone on that team + River
40:26 Elyoya won a shield with 1 rookie (Chasy, other 3 were Nisqy carzzy and hyli) not 4. kinda a weird slipup to make since it's only title in 3 split era g2 hasn't won so it's fairly memorable + whole Nisqy/Elyoya discourse
G2 last year was as dominant in early games/ no clue how to close a game as Fnatic is right now. G2 just understands the mid/late game better, they play lanes/objective setups better. G2 has an advantage of a whole year progressing in this area, focussing the whole year on this topic, letting the early game drop a bit. Fnatic is simply not this far yet, that is all. Maybe next year Fnatic is more competitive
@@wnazgul I think you should give teams some time to develop together. Fnatic is not failing like Vitality or KC did, they have to improve which is easier with the same players learning to play together instead of getting each season new faces and hope something great happens like a coinflip
Better team wins, the worse team "falls apart" Just say the better team won (G2). FNC can not play late game to the level of G2 so they loose that's it, they do not fall apart they are just worse.
@@wtfkek1534 you completely missed the point, you still have to show up in the tournament to win it, but it’s results biased. Take g2 2018, they had no business competing in a series vs rng, but they ended up smashing them, were G2 the better team? Fuck no. RNG “fell apart” it’s a term used to describe a team under performing, whether it be internal conflict or mental health issues etc, it’s still a very relevant term and useful.
Its Caps. You can analyze it from all sides and yes G2 have good macro, they have great coaching team and they have very good player on every position. G2 are masterfully oiled machine with Caps in their center, but if Caps struggle usually it means they will lost against better opponent. Its Caps.
The G2 Rekkles team might have actually wrecked the entire EU region. The region continued to decline after that roster failed. Rekkles's career was completely destroyed, after losing Rekkles FNC hasn't looked the same, the core of G2 breaks up with Miky leaving and then Wunder shortly after. G2 has bounced back now, but that roster had a huge impact on the whole region. I'm also saying this as a massive Rekky fan who continues to cheer for him even in LCK academy. It was just crazy how that roster boomed out
G2 got that mental and mechanical edge. They walk into the game knowing the onus is on Fnatic to change the narrative. The weight is never on G2 in these games.
Fnatic has no macro. They draft comps that they do not know how to use. For example, Game 1. You have an engage comp with Leona ult, Sejuani ult, and Kennen ult. A fed Ezreal and Smolder. They only thing you need to do to win any fight is engage. But they give the enemy team 3 inhibs for free. Literally, you had to build one defensive item on late game smolder (damage was already enough) and then you wouldn't be able to lose. Because the enemy team would focus Smolder anyway, and if it takes longer to take it down, Ezreal would have cleaned up. There is no way a team that knows how to play the comp would lose that game. I don't even know what they were thinking. Jun was inting the whole game and then late game, when he should engage and int, he just stops... xD
I think casters screaming and yelling about a game victory or a single good play, has become the Jimmy-Fallon-Laugh of lol-casters. It has been (over)done so many times, that it can feel annoying and disingenious, even when it is genuine. (That being said, Rich is still a dick.)

Yeah, I don't care about either region but NA has better macro on average at the moment and if EU teams don't improve during bootcamp the only team that can take a team from NA is G2 against the 3rd place but only based on hands diff. Macro wise I'd give it to the NA team.
who's surprised

Jankos is the best jng in EU history and then Yike.
Yike is not even the 2nd best jungler to ever play for G2.

why is cubby not in the thumbnail?
