I think Louie Armstrong is playing trumpet. What a voice. Left us way to soon.

Jimmie did record with Louis Armstrong, but he is not playing on this track. The cornet player here is C L Hutchison.

Mama & Daddy loved Jimmie Rodgers. He was from Meridian, Mississippi.... way before I was born but grew up listening to him. Still love to listen....

Listening to "The Singing Brakeman" in 2015 and he sounds fantastic!

Tom, you are so bad. I did not arrive until May 1941 and am 73 now. Hard to believe but still causing mischief everywhere I can.

The instrumentals on this are fabulous. Just the right touch of "Hawaiian" guitar and jazz like horns in the bringing up the stanzas.

This is one of the first songs George Harrison knew as a boy. Listen to Rocking Chair in Hawaii to hear his tribute.

"Leaving you mama cause you just don't treat me right" That's the way the do. You do a woman once, maybe twice, never a 3rd time and don't even think about getting married. When you're out working they'll have other guys coming over to see them nearly everyday, that just the women are.
