May 27, 1997. - I was 13 and counting down the days till school was out. Spent my summer days riding my bike around neighborhood and playing baseball and basketball at the park with neighbor kids. What a time to be alive.
@LawrenceUnknown4408 I mean I am not a kid anymore. All I can say is that my 11 year old son's social life right now is planned out by us. When I was 11 years old, my mom never felt a responsibility to figure out what I am doing on the weekend. On the weekend, I just went outside. She did chores around the house. We lived in a suburb with lots of kids just hanging out, outside. I don't see that today anymore. As for the lack of electronics, it maybe a bit overstated. We did have TVs and video games. And even then, there were for sure people who were addicted and played too much video games and watched too much TV. But one thing we definitely did not have are smart phones and social media. And it...was... GREAT! The internet was not everywhere like it is today. If you wanted to go online or do something on a computer, you needed to go and sit down and spend time doing that. It wasn't in your pocket and in your face everywhere you went. I am not going to completely sugar coat things though....We were bored more often. We didn't have entertainment and content at our finger tips 24/7. But that's a GOOD thing! We developed better attention spans and appreciated truly interesting things. Social media in combination with smartphones is destroying our youth and our society. If we just had social media without iPhones, it wouldn't be so bad. Again, you would need to go and sit down and boot up a computer and sit there for hours to be as addicted to it as most people are now. But with the smartphone, you can access the social media drug anytime/anyplace. And it's horrible and sadly destroying us.
@@djstatyk1540 that was a joke but I’m pretty sure if I watched Hey Arnold non stop nothing but, I’d find an episode with a close pitch and tone as a Seinfeld music insert was what I was getting at lol 😂
