- ANNOUNCEMENT: We have refined our concept and use MUSO-METHOD to teach; to teach classical music in a fun and serious way. Lots of piano teachers around the world (Aus, Europe, South America, Middle East) ask how we engage with our students interactively and match their energy.
Watch 23yo piano teacher Isabelle Ng teach 5yo Lewis Feng, very energetic little boy.
Note: there was also a toilet break which couldn’t be helped 🤣 I decided to leave it unedited.
I will maybe edit another version 👍
Hope you enjoy!

Wow, not every 5 years old can sit still for such a long time and follow the instructions ❤
I need a guitar teacher like this for my son that has patience and understands that 5 years old is just a small child that it needs to be fun for
Where are you?
You’re such an amazing teacher!!! You’re my teacher trainer now! I’m hoping to teach a 5 year old! Thank you

i love how enthusiastic and fun you make teaching seem!! :)
I just watching nearly 4 minutes and I already love this teacher
This was so helpful, I always struggle with structuring a lesson for kids.
Beautiful ❤️
I know this video is a year old, but as a fellow piano teacher, I highly recommend you take a look at the “Tales of a Musical Journey” method by Irina Gorin for this age. It teaches children theory concepts through stories, and really helps them use their imagination - not to mention the wonderful approach it uses in teaching healthy technique.
Children are much more likely to remember the concepts they learn, because they relate them to characters and stories. It is more effective, and fun (for both of us! 😊) than drilling Flashcards.
Also, I can totally relate to the: “Put your feet down.” “I know you love your feet, but…” 😅 The 5 year olds always love their feet don’t they? 😆
Oh yes, they really love to move their feet. Like, a lot.
This was so helpful for me to teach my 5 years old girl. Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
you got a lot done in that first lesson! excited to watch more!
Wow I really liked you teaching technique. I would like to implement those in my teaching.
Thank you omgggg it helps me first lesson plan assignment which is due today 😂 yay
i want to be a piano teacher as well and your piano lessons are really helpful and are guiding me so well.
thank you ,you're doing a great job^-^
Thank you for this video, I’m about to have my first 5 year old pupil and it’s good to get some tips. All ages are so different.
2:29 Merry Had A little lamb 😂😂
0:35 Finger number, Music Alphabet, White and Black keys, Finding the Cs
2:00 Flash Cards (Clef, Middle C-E, Rhythm)
21:00 Book (Music Theory Revise, Bar,Only Presentation, Count)
Thankyou for this
"Very smart"... Very Asian way of telling your pupil he has done a great good job 😸
No puedo enseñar tantas notas ala misma vez que pilas esos niños
So in a first lesson should i cover position, middle c, clefs, octaves and notes all in one lesson? Depends on the student i guess and if they were told anything beforehand
unless a student has prior knowledge and family support this is not a realistic first lesson. most of my students this age take a few lessons to learn groups of 2 and 3 black keys, high/low sounds and up/down. a few more lessons to learn quarter notes and rests, and names of the white keys. and then they are ready to start reading music. unless they have a knowledgable parent and a lot of support, this is more like 3rd or 4th MONTH of lessons, not first lesson
It’s probably not a real first lesson but a guide as to some of the things you could consider covering in a first lesson
What Flashcard do u use ?
I believe she’s using the flash cards that the school provides and sells I think
They are the Hal Leonard music flash cards. I use the same ones as well.
what book do you use in the lesson?
Piano lesson book.
John Thompson book 1

How to teach 3 years old children to play piano?
I have my son sit in my lap - mostly showing him how I play and letting him play (even if it doesnt sound good). He can now understand that you can make harmonies, ect. Don't expect more than 5-15 minutes of focus at a time.
I'm learning how to play the recorder
I know how to play the recorder. I have over "10.000 times pressing the play button" experience. (So I'm a virtuose now).
Hi ITS MIKE new york Grants they won today football
Cute. Surprise the teacher didn't teach songs by ear in L1 than trying to introduce reading right away.
Can never agree on drilling students on note names by "rote". Some people learn foreign languages the same way by memorizing words & phrases. The student is actually spending more time learning the name of notes & beat values that have all sorts of funny names while he hardly played a song.
Lol
I strongly suggest you upgrade your teaching approach to Soft Mozart. 5 year old? 30 minutes? He can do much better than that!
For the first lesson i think 30minutes is enough. Its too much for the little ones for a first day to handle.
The teacher trying to teach every thing except music....the kid came there to play...but the teacher engaged him with too many unnecessaryly theoretical info.
Yeah I feel that too or maybe this kid has background in music already 😅
@@beautifulstranger101 yeap you are right😊
@@beautifulstranger101 He already can play “Mary Had a Little Lamb,” so he has had formal ir informal lessons.
There is no music without technique, it's a sine qua non. I'm with the teacher.
She’s only 25. She doesn’t have enough experience yet. She will eventually change her approach when she has had hundreds of students. Not all kids would find this fun.
Too technical to start with. Too much for a first lesson
