Why, I AM a big ole nerd and that’s why I watch! 😁. The dress turned out beautifully. I’m so impressed with how quickly you are leveling up in skill! Thanks for the awesome content ❤️
Yay, you are my people! Thanks so much. 😄 One thing I love about sewing is that the various skill stack up and the more you learn the more cool stuff you can make.
Beautiful work! That fabric was such a good find, too. Since you like The Tudor Tailor - I imagine you've heard about it, but there's a series called A Stitch in Time (with sadly only one season) that has Ninya Mikhaila and it's amazing. I first found it here on UA-cam but it's also on Prime.
Thanks! Omg, I love that show. 😊 My mom and I blew through the entire thing in a few days. Hope they make more. This was also deeply inspired by Ruth Goodman and the Tudor Monastery Farm series.
@@katencat I love Tudor Monastery Farm! And of course Ruth Goodman! Have you seen Tales from Green Valley? It's Ruth and Peter/Fonz with Alex (he did I think all of the rest of the farm series with them) and two other historians. It's early 17th century and also fantastic.
Some kind of hook and bar might work to attach the bodice with the skirt or maybe ribbon ties or twill tape in place of the ribbon. Great find on reusing a curtain/drape!
Well not quite the beginning but close. I still feel your channel is underrated. Maybe I could commission you to make a period outfit so I can make a video doing a traditional folksong at some point
I generally costume for the early Victorian era, but I want to be a “math Tudor” for Halloween. Do you have any suggestions that would be relatively cheap and quick, but still be vaguely accurate and provide the right silhouette? I’m really studying up on your videos atm haha
Ahhh that's such a great pun! You can get close to the silhouette by pairing a pirate shirt-type shift/smock with a sleeveless, square necked thrifted 90s style prom dress (especially if it has tulle to make the skirt poofy). The simplicity S9090 pattern is pretty close. Also Margos Patterns has a TON of great tudor era patterns (or Tudor Tailor if you're down to draft your own). Also Samantha Bullat (Coture Courtesan) has a ton of great videos on Tudor dress for inspiration! Hope that's not too much but the Tudor era is my favorite 😃
May I ask how you projected the pattern? Do you happen to have a projector around or was there a creative way you did that? I've always wanted to try that!
I do have a super inexpensive projector I got off Amazon a few years ago. It's a bit fiddly but easier for me than drafting by measurements or cutting out a ton of printed pages. If you can get a cheap projector to hook up to your computer I recommend it!
Me, a big old nerd, chortled at the Henry the 8th joke and woke my cat from his slumber 😂😂. Love the dress! I eagerly await more Tudor sewing!
Haha so happy you liked that joke. 😂 Tell your cat I'm sorry. Thanks! I'm working on a French Hood next. It's been giving me a run for my money!

Thanks! I got away with pinning the bodice to the skirt for the video. But some tapes seem like a better long term solution.
I love the fabric. This looks so cool!
Thank you! The fabric was such a lucky find.
Omg this is beautiful! Historybounding lookbook when? 👀
Ahh! That's such a good idea! I keep making all these outfits with historybounding in mind. I'll have to style them modern soon.
"I'm not particularly accurate and not particularly good at math" finally yes thank you I am home.
You did a fabulous job! I just got my own curtain to make my tudor kirtle. Hope it goes this well!
Aww thank you! Good luck on your kirtle project. I'd love to see the end result!
Kitty ❤️❤️❤️ Love the kirtle too!
Just found your channel because I am going to be attempting to make a Tudor period dress and I am in love your cat.
Good luck making your Tudor dress! Julian the cat says hello. Also The Coture Courtesan has some great tudor dress videos that might help.
@@katencat Thank you so much! I will check them out!
this is everything I want to be
And with an old curtain and some gumption you can be too!
Seems I previously watched and liked this but neglected to comment. Seems quite a bit evolved from the Arwen inspired kirtle you did a while back.
Yeah! It's come a long way and you've been along for the ride since the beginning 😊

Great job❤️
Thank you! 💖
Beautiful
Very beautiful!
Thanks! 💕
Pretty!
Thank you so much!
Omg this is amazing and you are hilarious! I’m so happy I found you!!!
Ahhhh thank you so much! So glad you liked it.
Amazing video! I love your energy!💛
Awww, thank you! 💖 I really enjoyed making this dress (it's been a dream of mine for a while) and I think that comes through in the video.

@@katencat Thank you so much!! I’ll look into all of that
I am so jealous that you can get fabric at the thrift stores for that kind of money. Here there's rarely any decent options and they are always 20$+
It turned out lovely by the way
Thanks! Yeah I got really lucky with the fabric. It can be hit or miss around here as far as prices go but this was a steal.
Which pattern from the tudor tailor is this?

@@katencat Thank you! I am totally doing that.
