I'm a midwife. The pain might seem overwhelming in the moment but I think that's one way nature sets us up to go to a private safe place to birth. The best thing you can do is have someone with you who will remind you why you want an unmedicated birth. My advice: ignore it as long as you can ( try to trick everyone into not knowing you're in labor by acting and breathing normally), then distract yourself as long as you can by making cookies, watching a funny movie, etc. When you can no longer distract yourself - surrender. Float on the waves. Be zen. It's SO worth it. You CAN do it.

      That is great advice.
I did it with no pain relief and I believe it is the way to go. As long as you use distraction, meditation and just go with it. Try not to think you in labour and it will fly by. The brain is so powerful. Good luck with the birth. ❤ You got this

Yes I did it with no pain relief twice. Both of them were pretty short. The first one was kinda hellish with back labor, but I just focused on staying calm and relaxed in spite of the pain. I had my husband playing something on his quietly on his phone. I don't remember now if it was music or scripture, but it helped distract my mind enough to bear the pain

I’ve delivered 5 babies unmedicated. YOU CAN DO IT. Try to keep this in mind: when it’s “unbearable” it’s almost over. Having someone encourage you through those moments is so helpful. The transition period is the “unbearable” part. And often the euphoria and power moments come during pushing. And yes, pushing unmedicated and with no coaching, only pushing when your body tells you to or does it on its own, is incredible and so much better for both you and baby. And then yes, the euphoria and hormones after that baby is out is amazing!!! it’s so worth it!!

Yes! I've had 5, all unmedicated, and while I can remember the pain it really does not matter at all to you once that baby is out. I can't speak to what having an epidural is like, but I can say I've recovered pretty quickly and had no issues with all of my births. Never even had a tear.

I had all three of my boys unmedicated! First one at 17 ( yes teen mom) and I can tell you it’s hard and it’s painful but it’s honestly such a beautiful moment and empowering. It’s also really good for movement to get into a different position if need be. With my second son I was all over the bed on my knees, turned around, on my side lol trying to get him out and it helped with pushing pain being able to move around like that. Not sure how it is with epidural , but I couldn’t imagine you would be able to move around like that with one.
It’s an experience for sure and it’s awesome your wanting to experience yourself. ❤❤❤

Hope everything goes well for you. I did it without an epidural for all four of my births, completely unmedicated for three of them. The best advice I was given was to just take it one contraction at a time. Towards the end, there was always that one very long and very painful contraction, but it was that moment that I knew baby will be born in less than 10 minutes.

Dude it really gives me a lot of encouragement that you plan to go unmedicated. I am currently 36 + 4 days pregnant and am wanting to try that too.
Ive had a lot of people try to discourage it. But i think it will be worth trying.

Jane I LOVE your videos!!!. I've had natural births, and they freaking hurt, but you're right they are empowering! You can do it:)

I gave birth to three kids naturally but my third had to get an epidural only because I was having my tubes tied. I hated the epidural so much after having two without it because healing was a breeze!!!! You got this!!! Love you family, God bless 💕

Gave birth naturally to my youngest of three 12 years ago. Obviously hard, but SO worth it!! I felt so empowered!! Mental preparation was key! Good luck!

Jane! I just adore you so very much…I’m so excited to see your journey and I don’t watch any family channels or those chicks that make videos “Clean w/Me” or “Buy My Course…” basically anyone that would be covered by the channel UA-camr Headlines. Sending you all my positive vibes and prayers and I will watch you and your family any chance I get!!!xoxoxo

Ok, newbie here, just discovered your channel, I'm 62 and don't usually follow younger accounts but yours is so great, I was so like you 30ish years ago, you be you, you're so naturally entertaining.

I just did an unmedicated birth a month ago. You can do it. The end is intense, but remember you are close to baby when it gets that way. Breathing in for 4 and out for 6 helped during the contractions. Bridget teyler has a great UA-cam channel with great tips!

Uuuuugh! The curse of the never-ending kitchen mess. The second I see dishes start appearing in the sink again after I've finished cleaning it, I get so mad. Bless you for being honest about how messy actual life and parenthood is. I feel so much less alone. Third trimester sucks. You got this! Sending good vibes and hopes for a smooth delivery!

Omgggg this is such a good idea!! I don’t know if you’ve heard of this but when I dye my hair I put conditioner on my ears and around my neck and forehead it helps the hair dye rub off so easily and it won’t dye your skin! Try it for around your eyebrows next time! Hope it helps ❤

How exciting! If you're wanting unmedicated, go for it! I'm Always amazed by moms that make it thru delivery unmedicated ❤
It wasn't my route... I had great deliveries with an epidural. (And induced)

Bradley method- I had 2 natural births w a midwife at Yale medical school birthing room. Labored at home for 19 hours then went in. Loved it but you have to decide for sure you’re going natural because by the time you’re in transition you’ll want to give up. But your hubby knows to not let you give in. Loved it and still use the breathing for pain. Bradley rocks. ❤

Jane, you can absolutely do an unmedicated birth. I had both my boys unmedicated. I took the Bradley Method classes and it was really helpful. I really liked how the Bradley Method embraced following your bodies cues in pushing and teaching the different positions to push in. You got this! 👍🏻

I had an epidural with 2 of my kids, first time I tore so bad, had rear end troubles for months after also, second time I also had one and I felt everything , the pressure the baby coming down and the urge to push , but without the pain, no tears , recovery was amazing , I started to walk 1 hour after . All deliveries are different
