the military should seriously hire you to travel around each base and do these videos.....these are great quality and vital info for folks that are pcsing to these areas.
Wow thanks Daniel. Grew up around Grafenwöhr but was never able to see what was hiding behind those gates to the base. My uncle worked on base and sometimes brought me a can of Dr Pepper - oh the good old days ha
Yeah, I tried to sneak in with my US friend who had a card when I was 15, but they turfed me out. Still, she had my shopping list so all was not lost. Cinnamon donuts and Dentyne cinnamon flavour were the top items.😅 @@DTVDanielTelevision
Kevin - I was also stationed at Graf from August 1976 to 1979. I recall that our PX and commissary were not anywhere as large as they are today. I've used Google Earth to see what Graf looks like today and about the only structures I could find on the main post area were the Graf Water Tower and the theater. I was assigned to the flight detachment at Graf. With the exception of the runway itself the airfield has been renovated.
I worked in the old PX in 88-92. My job was in what we called “the cash cage” we cashed checks, sold ration tickets for gas (is gas rationed anymore)? And handled funds from all the other exchanges, from the training grounds to Vilsek. I’m really beginning to feel old looking at your great videos! 😂
What's strange is that, compared to a German mall, it follows the US building code, especially with the unique ceiling lights and exit signs that you don't typically see in Europe.
Hello from a german soldier :) im quite often there, but sadly we're only allowed to buy something to eat. The only thing that triggers me there is, that u can pay in € but u will get $ back. Very interesting video, thanks for it .
When my family was stationed in vilseck,I would always love to go to the Grafenwöhr PX.We would always shop, and get lunch!I remember I would always look at the military artwork on top of the restaurants.
My family was assigned to Graf from 81-84 and that was back when AAFES cafeteria and Stars and Stripes bookstore were a thing. This video just blows my mind.
Looks like a Walmart and Target combined. For Electronics which one would you choose a German Saturn store or AAFES Px? 9:15 laundry detergent United States size. Local equivalents for Tide Arm & Hammer are West German Persil Ariel and the former East German Spee and Perwoll which soldiers in Grafenwöhr 1980s call Fewa.
interesting insights! As a German citizen who has just found out that exclusive American malls like this exist on German territory I have a few probably naive questions: -how come this exists at all? How about shopping in German malls? Is it just for the sake of not needing to adapt to local/cultural customs? -how come it's military exclusive? Would be cool to have access to Taco Bell/Popeye's
Hello Daniel, cool videos!! but from where you got the music, because i like this one where you say "..TOYS!!" i like the song "because i feeling so good wanna.." ??? could be very nice when you say me the song. Kind regards GFML
Very well done video, Daniel. Do you know if people without military ID can go to the Panda Express in Grafenwoehr and eat? Panda's outside the PX. I've just been hooked on Orange chicken since I was first in the States, and I was so happy when I found out they opened a branch in Germany very close to my country. I'd like to stop there with my family on my way back from a trip. It's a pity I can't visit the PX as it reminds me of shopping malls in the US. Thank you.
Thanks for the tour. What's up with the cart? Hopefully you are not injured. I love your videos, keep it up! Grew up an Army Brat in Germany during the 80's.

Thanks so much! I’m actually working to make that happen now… stay tuned 🤞🏾
Never in a million years did I think I would be enthralled in a video about the PX. You've done it again- the editing/music etc are incredible!
Hahaha, you're crazy Jamie! A million years tho.... c'mon. You should see my Prius videos ;) PS: Word of the day: "Enthralled"
A lot of wars fought, and sacrifices were made to have such a magnificent PX.
Wow thanks Daniel. Grew up around Grafenwöhr but was never able to see what was hiding behind those gates to the base. My uncle worked on base and sometimes brought me a can of Dr Pepper - oh the good old days ha
Haha, that's hilarious. I figured there would be quite a few Germans who would love to see the inside :)

Thank you for this video. Things have really changed since the first time there 43 years ago. WOW!!!

Whoa! I was in elementary school at this time 😊 Yes, gas is still rationed along with tobacco and alcohol. Thanks for sharing!
Very entertaining and informative tour of the Grafenwoehr Main Exchange. Excellent video...

This video get me more excited for Germany. I’ll be there in 3 weeks!
Study your driving test.

Thanks for watching my friend! Most Americans pay by card, but yes, you can get $ back when paying with €

Looks just like Target or Walmart. I swear we take America everywhere we go. 🤣
The Exchange motto is literally, "we go where you go" lol
I used to always go to that PX with my family.

So, So, different than in the 80's!! LOL!!
It's really sad that the fact that this is in Germany but you not allowed to go there as a German. I would love to see that!
Agreed 🫤
Be nice as an american retiree in germany to use the PX but we cant.

BUN-D !!! I can't believe they opened one up there, that's awesome!
They did, but it’s changing to Dean and David soon

I miss Grafenwoehr 😢
Can You make a video about the Netzaberg Hill Trail??
Fun!
Come to bayreuth
Graf has a Dunkin' now? Does that mean no one goes to Vilseck anymore?
So happy to see you in the comments my friend!! Good question, but Dunkin is still worth a trip on Vilseck if you're in the area ;)
Are the salesperson actually soldiers or employees of the shops from the US?
Employees are either local nationals, military spouses, or just American civilians just applying online 😊
Now do video from the PX in the training area (the one next to the theater).
The small one on the other side (near gettysburg club )doesnt exist anymore.
