- This is part two of a series of three videos on how to make a high quality but cheap and easy book scanner using plastic plumbing items as the main structural frame, and with some innovative ideas about how to construct the scanner.
A very clever build. Thanks for sharing.
Alcune persone sanno fare cose complicate ma sono i genii che sanno fare le stesse cose in modo semplice.
Mi congratulo con te, signor Book Scanning! 👍
Some people can do complicated things but they are the geniuses who can do the same things the easy way.
I congratulate you, Mr. Book Scanning! 👍

There are a few suppliers such as Trent Plastics who can use a laser cutter to cut the plexiglass. This will give you a lovely shiny smooth edge, rather than sawn.
A few minutes work with a sanding block and progressively finer sandpaper will take care of any rough or uneven edges.
I think I can make this, but I'm wondering if it can generate some money for me. I'm retired but I'm looking for some ways to earn money especially for a home based job. Do you have any idea where to look for? What model is your Pentax camera?
Could you list out all items which need to buy and why and which suppliers in e-bay you buy? So it will be more easy for someone like to make their own one like your nice work.
Hi Madeleine
I've written in move detail about the scanner, including a parts list and dimensions. You can see it at this link

This is the most elegant book scanner I've seen. Are you willing to sell one to me?
Hi Pregolegs
Thank you for your kind comments. Sorry I don't want to make you one, but I have given quite detailed plans, and you make one yourself if you look at this page on the DIYbookscanner.com web site

On one of my later posts on that site (sand on the link below) you can get a full list of components and how to make the scanner.

Hope this helps you.

Unfortunately, building one isn't realistic for me. I can't drill, let alone cut boards, due to space and lack of equipment. I don't even have the necessary ventilation in my apartment for the glue part. Your design was appealing to me because it it can be taken apart and thus wouldn't take up additional precious space. Do you have any tips for someone in my situation?
***** Thanks for your comment. It is possible that I may be asked to make one of thee scanners for a British charity. If so, it might be possible for me to make two at the same time. Where are you based? I would need to cover the cost of materials, some labour and shipping. Would you still be interested? You would need to get your own cameras.
