Relying on the Holy Spirit is not lowering his standard. What standard do we have without God? None. absolutely none. It takes the wise to believe this truth in scripture that God lifts the humble. The Holy Spirit brought Joe this far. God made him who he is today so to not stay humble and allow the Holy spirit to continue to guide and lift him will rather mean he's lowering his standard.
