Who else is here after seeing Ayinla on Netflix...i was born in the 90s but am so proud of the quality of songs that made the airwaves back in the days. Our parents are so lucky listening to the OmoWuras growing up and not the Naira Marleys.
I was born in 1984, I grew up listen to English music not until few months ago that I decided to research through Yoruba music, at the end I discover that Ayinla Omowura is the man to honor. Omowura is highly creative with word.
Our parent were just so lucky listening to pure talent and great music. Our generation really don't understand what music really means. It's deeply incorruptible soul searching
we are lucky too. I've decided to start collecting songs of Nigerian Musicians from as much as 70 years ago. Why ? I'm Igbo but my dad loves Ebenezer Obey ( he grew up in Lagos and speaks Yoruba pieces) and it robbed off on me, and when I started hearing Yoruba small small I began to appreciate the music more.. On the Igbo part there are people like Osadebe, Isreal Nzemani, Celestine Ukwu and Rex Lawson. I dive to South Africa to pick Mariam Makeba and the black Smith band. There is nothing to hate about the music of old, I don't understand anything in this song as Egba pass my level but the beating makes sense, it sounds like something that was released today and I'm dancing as I write. I know it's not corrupt rubbish I'm listening to. I hope we can collect as much as possible.

I'm listening to this with a headphone now. The sound is *super SONIC* even for an old skool song. You appreciate this better with an headphone. The separation of the lead and chorus, still brilliant and coherent in uniformity and beauty.
I have done a deep research on Yoruba music and Apala. I found Ayinla Omowura far outclassed all, he lived before his time, he is a Legend I feel for you if you are a Yoruba man and dont have deep understanding of his lyrics its beyond our age I really cant explain, I feel more proud to be an Egba man first then a Yoruba man. I heard his music blared every where when I was young in Lagos. I was young Naive and read no meaning to it until a deep research into my culture, try a soul search as a Yoruba man and you will be grateful that this guy lived to deepen our culture.
True talk brother. The sad realisation is that many of our young generation find it hard to understand its language. Ayinla is a rear custodian of Yoruba cosmology and philosophy. But how many of them know that?
I can't agree less on your submission . The problem here is that there is no proper and adequate change of baton from one generation to the other as far as traditional music is concerned . I wonder why will any generation will want to loose the rich cultural contents of Omowura music.
The Man was a Legend. Traditional Music is not easy to copy. It takes only talented musician to survive with ir couple with the Egba lyrics. That is why there is no transition from old era to the new. All our present yoruba musician only take the easy route.

I watched the film produced by Kelani, Mainframe titled AYINLA in memory of late Ayinla Omowura - Egunmagaji of Egbaland last Saturday 10th July,2021 at Silverbird Cinema, Shoprite Building, Abuja Nigeria. I was touched the way I was when I heard of his demise on 6th May, 1980. I love his music to no fault. May Allah continue resting his soul in Jannatul fridaousi. Egba sons and daughters won't forget you.

As much as I do cherish his music, he was more on the boastful end full of ego to the detriment of other musician that cross his way mostly when in performance with him. An "Ogboni man" dat lack patient. Either fighting with wives or neighbours that lead to his demise in 1980 or so if I can still remember as a school boy in Bariga in Lagos. Miss him as a talent though, but others need to learn from his attitude. Patient has brought musicians like Ebeneezer Obey & KSA this far.

I wish Hakeem Ayinla can be interviewed about his late father so that younger people can learn and know more about this great musical Icon that passed on May 6th 1980. When next I am Abeokuta, Nigeria, I will see if I can locate him.

I did some research on him...Wow, the True Gangsta (O.G)...Lived and played music before his time...Amazing compositions, arrangements, the drums and percussion, and his voice with the "sh" pronunciations of words... makes him a special musician...For me, he ranks with Bob, Fela, Tupac and all the greats....And an not Yoruba...Great music is great music...

I was a kid with my late dad who loves going to Abeokuta every friday and right at the beer parlour when I was rushed into the house only to find out later that The Music Legend was there and some commotion which led to his death that very day but the music still lives on RIP Anigilaje Omo Wuramotu

Ayinla Omowura; one of greatest musical brains of our calender but depart us too soon. Very unfurtunate since he had departed the face of this earth with almost all our curtural musicians which caursed our Yoruba music to erode to the level of loosing our cultural musical instruments in our music. Sunnn reee ooo egun mogajii omo won ni Itoko.

+Debo Alder Yes, he departed so early bcos he was more on the difficult side. As much as I do cherish his music, he was more on the boastful end full of ego to the detriment of other musician that cross his way mostly when in performance with him. An "Ogboni man" dat lack patient. Either fighting with wives or neighbours that lead to his demise in 1980 or so if I can still remember as a school boy in Bariga in Lagos. Miss him as a talent though, but others need to learn from his attitude. Patient has brought musicians like Ebeneezer Obey & KSA this far.
