Fantastic property Brad. Beautiful place. You have so much potential out there. Definitely something to aspire towards for me. Would love to have a yard like that someday. It looks daunting though...looks like it is definitely a full time job to get it all done and maintained.

Wonderful!! I am so happy for you. That is an amazing property. Not only lots of land to build on but looks like an amazing house too. Love the balcony, half covered pool and birdhouses with birds. I recommend a golf cart for getting around. One with headlights for when you go out there at night. Wow that mountain to the side is amazing too. Ha and free flamingo toy. This is my dream to have land and a house that I can build my way.

Congratulations on the new property. So much space and room for new projects! I think a quad bike is in your future for getting around. I was excited when you said the property use to be a bog, but must admit to being sad to see how it's been completely transformed. I will be interested in your experiments to try and grow sphagnum again!

You and your family have a wonderful property to work with now! I am envious of your acidic peat soil, which would host a great number of plants in a formal or informal garden. My own gardening land is rocky, alkaline soil, which I have to amend with compost; large potted plants have become much easier to work with in some cases. I will look forward to the videos of your property's changes in the years to come!

Lovely place got the potential to be a amazing garden. With a lot of hard work and of course a lot of money. I would build a path through the garden with plenty to see as you walk down to the bottom. Good luck you will get there eventually 🤞.

think i would have waited a whole cycle of a year before cutting the hedge, as i would have been wondering why the last group planted it, then conclude if i needed it after the 4 seasons. Big covered outside space off back of house , do you know what the sq ft of living space is? After living far away from the city on acres and acres of land, I can never go back to a neighborhood. Very nice choice.

Sphagnum needs moist soil. Fill the ditch up and then wait for the rain and then later you can replant it. Just research how to do it properly so you can increase chances of success.

First thing I would Buy would be a golf cart... that's a long walk. Ask around & see if any of your Neighbors have (Goats to RENT) let _Them eat all that grass & shrubbery in the lower bog.

Brad, this is absolutely perfect for you!
I’d use the goat house for a chicken coop! You could use hardware cloth on the outside run to secure it (chickens in, predators out). 🐓 🥚
Congratulations, loads of space to grow (literally) into!

Maybe you could locate where the drainage ditch is and maybe see if you could contact the person who owns it and maybe try filling the ditch because the water table and ditches don’t go together. To grow bog plants I think you need to restore the whole bog at least fill up the bog and search up restoring sphagnum bogs and there’s a video by meadow view about them restoring the bog that their property was on.

I don't know if it would work, or if there are any restrictions or something, but would it be possible to dig channels to the ditch so the water flows back into your peat area? Maybe not all the way along but perhaps partway?
