    I had been having internal hip snapping while walking for the last 3 months. I'm on my feet all day and its been driving me nuts. I was doing exercises and nothing seemed to help. I found this video a few days ago and have been concentrating on improving my standing posture and foot position while walking ever since. The snapping immediately stopped! I'm so relieved. Thank you so much.

    4:18 my posture had been like this for 7 years and I started to feel pain while doing abdominal exercises after 3 years. I've thought my abs were the problem for not being able to bring my knees up close enough and legs getting tired very fast. I've always been athletic but hadn't understood the problem with my hips mobility and snappin. This video has given me amazing insight! Thank you so much.

    Cool, totally underrated video and explanation!
    I suffer from this darn internal snapping syndrom and it drives me nuts. But I quickly noticed that when I internally rotate my legs, I can make it disappear. Unfortunately, I also need to lift my legs up, as I am training in kickboxing and muay thai, and if you want to block a kick, your leg goes out and up. But in the heat of sparring it doesn't bother me that much. Leg lifts and abs workouts are the most annoying exercises but I need them! 🙂

    This video describes me so accurately that it’s freaky, especially the slouching part that you mentioned. I’ve always had this complete inability to sit upright as my back just feels so compressed as if it’s stuck in extension. So I either slouch or lean forward a ton. I have chronic back tightness but the only pathology I have is FAI/ snapping hip. My legs also always flare out a ton into abduction/external rotation when I sit. I also have been told I have facet joint syndrome. I just don’t know how to relate all the things and figure out what I need to focus on doing.
    It’s interesting that you say people with snapping hip lack the ability to fully shorten the hip flexors/lower abdomen. I do have bilateral hip pain in both hips at the end range of flexion. I just chronically squeeze my glutes and seem to shove my femurs forward. Yet I’m told this is a good thing and squeezing the glutes is this golden cue given to everyone. I have never had a PT who is interested in relating my issues to the FAI which is the only actual issue I have on MRI, bad enough that a doctor did surgery on it
    Where are you located. I’d honestly pay anything for a session or two with you. I’m in NY but don’t mind traveling because I really want to see someone who understands the pelvis/hips and weird compensations. Also would stretching the glutes be beneficial ??

    • @sportsrehabexperts
      @sportsrehabexperts  Рік тому

      Yea you probably lack internal rotation at the hips, but forcing the hips into internal rotation stretches is not the way to go about improving it because it usually causes pain. This needs to be coaxed along. I am located in Ann Arbor, MI. Happy to see you in person! I do work with people online all the time with just as much success addressing the problem. Attaching the link to the online program I described in the video. You can schedule a zoom session with me online there as well as get access to the main program of exercises that I usually give to people. Obviously some individual adjustments might be needed, but this can be a great starting point! sports-rehab-expert.aweb.page/workout

I have you go through a variety of movements and exercises so you will need space to move your bodyweight around. Then you'll get a program for me as well as access to an app where you can continue to send me videos of you doing an exercise. Those exercises are great, they sound like they might be good for you but I've never seen you move...But a couple stand alone exercises won't solve all the worlds issues

    Hi, I get internal snapping in my upper thigh pelvis area, but I also get snapping in my mid-back. Even though I have stretched and strengthened my psoas, glutes and core which all feel strong now, I still get the snapping. Do you think that my bad posture (rounded shoulders and forward head) could be what is causing my psoas to still snap despite addressing my hip area? Thanks for your help!

    • @sportsrehabexperts
      @sportsrehabexperts  Місяць тому +1

      I don't know your specific issues and never seen you move. So impossible to say. But as discussed in this video, often times position influences the snapping more than strength or flexibility.

      Indirectly....Yes! The clicking and popping isn't the problem. Its a secondary consequence from posture habits, movement patterns, flexibility, and strength. All of those can impact your back issues just as it can impact a hip making it more likely to click, pop, etc.

    Suffering over 23yrs. My hip snaps from walking or standing up from a chair. It even snaps if I roll over in bed. Already had an FAI surgery... not convinced it was helpful. Seated toe touch... no problem for me. But maybe Im forcing it and my low back isnt bending. My snapping hip usually alternates with low back pain. I can barely walk or sit in a car anymore.

      @@sportsrehabexperts I'll do good for a long time and then I'll get a flareup that lasts months which is usually brought on by having to sit in a crappy chair at a long meeting or having to drive a company van with a shoddy seat and no legroom for a taller fella. Or the worst thing ever... a 2hr plus flight on any airline! My whole trip will be in agony if I start off with a flight. The worst is if I have to do something physically demanding between long car rides. What goes through my mind: "My hip is feeling poppy today. Better cancel all plans and call off work/quit my job again for the foreseeable future so it can stop spasming." I had to buy an old truck with a bench seat so I can scoot over a little and drive left footed. Then I down a handfull of magnesium pills and slathet magnesium lotion all over myself and just try to rest in bed with a pillow between my knees. When the spasms stop, I can try a few therapy exercises but it's so delicate that if I even remotely overdo it, I'll be back to square 1 with spasms. It gets to the point where I cant even pick my foot up.

      @@sportsrehabexperts you think another operation is a good idea? I feel like ramming a scope through muscles that already have adhesions isnt going to help it heal at all. I dont think I can do crutches non weight bearing right now either. Been thinking I may need to wear a hip brace for a few days to get the pressure off this thing. Recovery after my first operation was literal hell and I went into cardiac arrest during the procedure so I'm not too keen on going through that again. That was going on 10yrs ago. I recently had a different surgeon look at me... but he never did look at me he just tried to sell me another procedure without even doing an exam or even asking me my name. Needless to say im stuck between a rock and a hard place here. My dad was having hip pain and got a total hip replacement since hes 70 years old. It sounds like he has the same issue as me after his THR. We were both hardcore cyclists all our lives and I'm positive it was riding that wrecked us both. We cant bike anymore.

      @@sportsrehabexperts oh its definitely the snap that is directly painful, but im sure it snaps as a symptom of being tight/spastic. My osteopath who tried prolotherapy with said the surgery was not a great idea too. You have any connections in Denver that can look me over? I really need somebody to take me under their wing and get to know my issues. I need help getting back to work im barely functioning and now they cut off my health insurance and denied me medicaide, so surgery isnt even on the table right now. Considering trying to get a script for gabapentin to calm these nerve pain spasms and maybe a muscle relaxer. The spasms need to stop i feel the muscle quivering at times its so injured. It seems like activation of the glute medius helps a lot, but the muscle reeducation is not really taking/progressing. My glute medius us just so weak and atrophied. The surgery especially didn't help this, plus having to hold my leg up crutching around...

      @wetbreadno8279 If the snapping is causing you pain, then it's time to see a very experienced orthopedic hip doctor. This can lead to osteoarthritis and cartilage wear off. The hip surgery recovery can put u on mental suicide stress. You will be pretty much lifeless bedridden for 6 to 8 weeks and then painful physical therapy for 4 months (if the doctor mess/fix your labrum add a whole year to heal labrum). Avoid sitting positions on sofa or chair after surgery to avoid hip flexor tightening/strain/shortened just stay in laying positions as much as possible. Personally if the snapping is just a loud clunk noise but no pain then stay the hell away from this surgery lol...Avoid sitting positions as much as possible

      Look if you can do some psoas activation work and see if your psoas is to tight/short. The snapping sound usually comes from the psoas tendon rubbing over the Minor trochanter. You might look for an x-ray and an oversight of your pelvis/hip. You can quickly sort things out like structural problems (hip dysplasia is a thing...)
