    Just got 1161 -TZ .
Titanium handle , ti pocket clip/ back spacer and S35VN blade
1161-TZ is amaizing, I pay 80€ from Aliexpress.
Quality is excellent. I have all steel version too and it is little bit different, few subtle shape modifications .
Highly recommend new ti one, if you like original.

Very nice! Yes, the 1162 - the titanium one, would be quite nice indeed. since the knife is structurally identical to the 1161 in design and since I very seldom get knives that are not low budget ($60USD and less, often a lot less), this channel is focused on the low budget prices.

I've had my eye on this one for a long time. I really like the blade shape.

I like my 1161, the 1162 looks nice. Steel design so not light weight, but very slim. I love the blade shape. Thank you sir!

Howdy Jake! I just got myself a 1161 and it seems mine has A LOT of resistance to opening. Not sure if mine is defective since you're opening yours with so much ease.

Sounds odd. If you want specific feedback please send me an email - CanadianCuttingEdge AT gmail.com adn I will try my best to help you sort it out. (I don't do extended conversations here on UA-cam)

do you think its worth spending $90 on the Titanium handle vs $35 for the steel version?

have used it for a week now and the detent is still so strong that none of my knife friends can flip/deploy it. neither can i. rest of the action is butter smooth as usual. frame lock is not too strong, so i think i got one of those ultra-precision ones where the lock ball fits 100% into the blade hole.
should i file down the hole edge ever so slightly in direction of the scratch path ?

I have a 3 part video series about how to fix detents. It is a lot easier to fix a detent that is too strong then one that is too weak. Check out part 1 here: ua-cam.com/video/V6xT_97DX0A/v-deo.html

@@CanadianCuttingEdge thanks for your reply !
part 2 did the trick for me. i used a round diamond jewelry file and rounded the edge of the hole ever so slightly. runs like a charm now. thanks for your advice. i liked the paper trick to determine the lock status. nice one and new one to me !
btw: how is your recovery going ?

@@CanadianCuttingEdge i forgot to mention that it took me four rounds of filing and re-assembling and disassembling again because i didn't want to overdo it. i think the right way is a slow approach to avoid messing up the action for good.

I purchased this knife shortly after its debut and still enjoy using it. One thing I noticed right off the bat was a blade centering issue. I also see it being slightly off on yours. Do you think this was intentional, or some problem during manufacturing?

I'm still having lots of flipper tab resistance. Even after oiling, disassembly, reassembly, breaking in, etc. Has anyone found a way to ease up the flipper tab resistance? It's becoming painful after like 5 flips. Ow

It sounds like you might have a detent problem. I do have a bit of a video on how to fix a detent but it might not address your specific issue. It's probably that the detent ball protrudes too much so it has a hard time slipping out of the tiny hole where it sits on the side of the blade when the knife is closed, or it could be the lock bar has too much spring tension pushing onto the side of the blade, or a combination of the two.
Here is my old video on the subject, it just might help: ua-cam.com/video/5zzJwIuah10/v-deo.html

My channel is one where I review budget knives. I am sorry, I do not have the money to review a knife by the Miller Brothers. BUT, if you send one to me, I will review it, and send it back to you.

Is it still possible to import this knife to canada?

    • @CanadianCuttingEdge
      @CanadianCuttingEdge  4 роки тому +1

It most certainly is possible. I continue to buy fipper knives every month from outside of Canada and have them mailed to me here in Canada.
But, they could confiscate just about any knife as it comes into Canada. They choose not to stop fixed blade knives, and non-locking folders, but many locking folders, even if they are legal to own in Canada can be stopped at the border. I have not had any knives confiscated in the last 10 months and in that time I have imported well over 100 knives. The best chances to get a knife into Canada is if you have it mailed by a person and not by a store. If the package shows that it is from a knife store then it is more likely to get inspected, but it is not a foregone conclusion - they simply do not have the time to check every single package. My favourite store in USA is White Mountain Knives and packages from them have NEVER been stopped on the way in for me, (of course, there is no guarantee that it will continue that way always) and the owner says that he doesn't have it happen much at all, but many other knife stores have stopped shipping into Canada.
In previous years when I did the math, even though a number of knives were stopped at the border it was and is still cheaper to buy knives from USA than it is to buy them from Canadian stores, simply because knives are so much cheaper in USA. If they take even 1/4 of all the knives it is still cheaper because knives cost about 35% - 40% less, so loosing 25% of knives still would save me money in the long term even though it will emotionally hurt when it happens, it is still better financially that way.
