Funny story with this one- for this production of Heathers, I took over the role of J.D. after playing Kurt Kelly up until his death. Certainly a character switch, but super fun to play such contrasting roles!
The moving door idea is GENIUS for this, JD physically cornering Veronica at one point really gives this the tension it needs!
All thanks to our director! The stuff he thinks of to make scenes pop is crazy!
I’m sorry is NOBODY gonna talk about your energy as JD? The emphasis on the manic behavior, even down to the way he sings in such an aggressive but lovesick way, it gives me chills. Great job.
thank you so much! nailing the energy was one of the things I stressed a lot while practicing. I was really trying to find a good balance between being convincing and being insane, and I think I got it 😅

this is absolutley fantastic. ive seen about a hundred versions of this song and its rare that it still gets me as much as it did the first time i saw it but holy shit. the way J.D is played is genuinely so unervering to the point where its uncomfortable to watch and its Amazing. definetly one of the best meant to be yours I've seen.

Dude you were amazing! That scene felt so real. Props to the director. Your vocals were amazing. I was worrying about your vocal cords the whole time though. The fact that you were able to still sound good even though you were yelling and screaming the whole time
Thank you so much! I am mainly trying to tap into the same sort of technique Alex Brightman uses in Beetlejuice, i forget the exact name tbh 😅 It definitely is a LOT of work tho and I can still work on mastering it!

Absolutely love how JD was portrayed in this. Heathers need its own Broadway show and we found the JD for it also I love the door idea, and acting on both sides of JD and Veronica! Awesome work!

holy shit? this has got to be one of my favorite interpretations of this song. You see the less than perfect performance space yet it has been so perfectly utilisied. Props to you, Mister JD for this performance and your director and crew.
JD taking his hands of and on the door was REALLY good, i love the energy that you gave him and the "insane" and "slowly losing sanity" act was amazing! I wonder how veronica kept balance on that door, i would've fell off instantly 😅

(Other then broadway) I have never heard a JD be so aggressive toward it. And that's exactly JD's character, he is psychotic right. You portrayed him PERFECTLY. I was so suprised to FINALLY hear someone nail it. If Broadway is something you'd love to pursue in the future, you definitely have the passion. Amazing work!

Absolutely loved the idea with door choreography, but laughed out loud at the end at stage adjustment in character. You know, some maniacs take locks of hair from their victims, some take personal items, but JD... he took the whole room closet.
