Tiny 8-Way Item Frame Selector [Minecraft]

- Today I present a tiny and easy to build 8-way selector switch using comparators and item frames!
Oh and I have a few other videos ready for the coming weeks so be sure to stay subbed folks!
All built on one layer for your building convenience :-)
Thanks to GrzegorzB and Quaze on the Cubekrowd server for helping me to compact the second design (the 2 wide one)
Many moons ago GenerikB managed to get the feature included allowing for item frames to give comparator outputs, here I have tried to make an easy to follow version of the selector panel he made way back!

Can you turn it manually on or off with another redstone circuit? If not this is useless.
I could use some help with something related to this. I want to take the 8 signals that comes off of this and send it to 8 different locations that have a 1 block gap but the redstone gets hugely messy. Is there an easy way to "fan out" the output from this design?
I was dong this in 1.9 and whenever i reach the 8th position and go back to first, all the torches flash on for 1 tick before turning off all of them except for the first one O.O
