Brunel Bus Station Car Park.
There are three lifts one end, and two on the other.
The main lifts go to a grotty basement, with an underground walkway to the other side of the road towards the Queensmere Shopping Centre and High Street.
The underground walkway appears to be used by the homeless to ask for 'spare' money.
These are Express Lifts, but presumable modernised in the 90s sometime.
On the east side, only 1 out of 3 lifts is working. On the top floor, you can hear typical old Express relay control gear, including floor selector operating - so the modernisation must have just been car interiors (yeah, nice job too!)
On the other side of the car park, the ground floor lift lobby smells like it has been used as a toilet for a long, long time. Even the floor of the lift is sticky - yuch!
Check out the alarm panel above the lifts on the ground floors - there is a small window which produces a mechanical red 'flag' (probably a red disc) when the alarm button is activated. The 'slide to reset' switch is actually mechanical - it just pushes the red flag back, so that only a clear while window can be seen. I suppose this way if the alarm was activated, the red flag would remain even if the power failed until it's manually reset.
These are exactly the kind of lifts that gave me the creeps when I was a kid! Yet that's where the fun comes from now :)
I remember when these lifts were new - they were put in in the late 1980s when I was a child, if I remember correctly, replacing what I assume must have been the original lifts put in when the car park was built in the 1960s, which original lifts had, if I recall correctly, dark red floors.
This bus station no longer exists. A new one has been built, and there is a cheese - shaped building in its place.

ever since otis bought express out, most of the original express lifts have been neglected.
"do not cross the white line until lift has arrived" - i suppose it was an attempt by the council to allow people to get out of the lift before people got in. Never seen this anywhere else.

Normally, this is the firemans access panel - they will have ladders of course. There is normally another way up to the motor room, there are sometimes metal steps, or the stairs on the top level keep going up to it. I normally go out on the roof and see it I can see the motor room entrance door. On the first set of lifts I couldn't find another door on the outside, so (at 8:42) maybe this IS the entrance, but I don't think so - must be an easier entrance than this.
I think I'd call it "thorough!".
was the lift you video taped, was that the only one working that day??,And was the other lift just broken, or was it running slow?
what did the yellow paint say out of the lift doors
@MrUNIXman Yes, I am aware. Probably why the lifts were so old and degraded and no money was spend on them. Glad I was the last to film them.

Yep, from High Wycombe. Used to do the CCTV for Slough Town Centre so know it quite well! Used to hate callouts to the cameras in the Britwell Estate and Common Road tower blocks!
mrmattandmrchay lucky I am the better end in Cippenham (West of slough center for those who dont know) Slough high street has gone right down. Rumours the whole street and shopping area will be knocked down and rebuilt by an Arab billionaire
@@Roblilley999 Correct Slough high street has gone downhill. Put Labour back into power and let them deal with it instead of the conservatives. Cippenham is a decent area, I bet you're glad that you don't live in Chalvey!

There is a large shopping centre in camberley, but havent been there for years and years (if this is the one I am thinking of). What lifts do they have there, and from what era? (80s/90s/modernised/new). I think I remember some glass lifts that went up through mall, then disappeared through brickwork into the car park?
That old express elevator nice one. But I think should let them call elevator engineering needs upgraded for elevator system become bright with cctv for safety. Look like old elevator 1980 probably good work elevator go up and down smoothly. But now bit crumble elevator that quite safe really. Should be upgraded elevator to made smoother will safe.

No station itself doesn't exist anymore they built a new 1
Shouldn't upgraded all those elevators with reports for safety checks the system, before re-use them elevators is will be improvide anyway.
