Lugua is tremendous and hypnotic.
West African harmonies and percussive rhythms
that taunt, relax, challenge, encourage and entwine.

Reminds me of some _Orchestra Baobab_
(high praise indeed).
The instrumentals are the backbone of genius...
_Stinkweed_ has complex percussions,
pierced by sax, trumpet and flute.
Keyboards carry melody into the darkness.
We are surrounded
we are alive
for one electrifying moment.
Everything afterwards can only be a dull afterlife.
The _Iguana_ is _Lazy_ in a driving soundscape
like the gnawa impulse of a sufi dream.
Eyes are closed, the heartbeat is strong.
_Just Can't Hold Me Down_ has a Nujabes drum beat
under the word rhythm of repetition, conviction and truth.
Sax soothes, accents and agrees.
Reminds me of The Clash _I'm Not Down_
or Nujabes _The Sign._
Simple truth and defiant observations.
Honesty is often the last resort of a desperate life,
but it should be the first resort in all our lives.
_Catch 22_ is the masterpiece here.
I've never experienced anything so underappreciated.
It is astonishing, memorable, transcendent and perfect.
Both melancholy and triumphant, like the best blues.
Love should be simple, but it is not.
That is the confounding mystery of life.
Play it at my funeral.
I will hear it.
I will always hear it.
_Impressions_ should bring us down to reality,
but there is foreboding drumming and descending strings,
which challenge us with an unspoken Japanese mystery.
What has just happened?
We will never know.
Until we play it all again.
