National Garden Railway Show 2011 - Part 1 - Layouts

- The Association of 16mm Narrow Gauge Modellers' annual show at Stoneleigh Park was a showcase of 16mm modelling at its finest.
This film, the first part of three films of the 2011 show, focuses mainly on the layouts at the show, but also features the show opening, visitor to the show, Sir Haydn and the Grand Prize Draw.
Look out also for Part 2 - which features model of the year entries, and Part 3 which features some of the items the traders had for sale at the show
I'm an enthusiast, a modeller and sympathetic to others, but I just can't get used to "live steam" hurtling along, seemingly uncontrollable and then stopping where it's not supposed to! Oh, and well done to R.B Mote for winning the prize draw too.
DCC is possible for Live Steam locos. All you need to do is supply the electricity used for the DCC system, which can be done either with batteries in a car trailing the loco, or through the track. I have seen a #1 gauge electric outdoor railway, which uses a DCC system. The owner also has a larger out door layout, with trains that run on an 18" gauge track. Those locos run with the DCC system, and they are all live steam.
Some of the engines you see here are live steam and require "real" drivers, controlling the trains by either radio control or by adjusting the controls in the cab by hand (manual control). I have not seen live steam engined controlled in the manner you suggest - I suspect this may be more achievable with locos with an electric motor - it is more common in G scale - see the Norman Crossing layout. Hope this helps.
nice video mate already been a year from the last one looking forword to see the rest
0:30 i know the man in the bule t shirt
DCC only works for trains powered by electricity through the track. You need radio control for live steamers.
hello.i have a question.is there any way to make the trains stop at their stations?and then to make them go again(without a person doing it...to program the train or something to have like pitstops? )i'm sorry for my bad english
@flopfp yeah DCC, but only the american trains have that.
Nice event.
