When you see 4.7 40 on paper you might think he's a little slow, but this guy is quick and fast, especially for his size, and seems to have a nasty disposition. He's a starter from day 1 and going to be a big outlet for Garoppolo.

Outside of wr and db it shouldn't even be considered unless the numbers are way way off to the point of historically bad. Shit Jacobs ran a 4.6 and you saw him hit a 90+ yard td run against Seattle late in the game when he was tired without getting caught. Wrs vs dbs is the only time a 40 yard dash is really going to come into play and even then it's only on streaks. Way overrated number. Take a look at Jack Campbell out of Iowa everyone was crying about his 4.6 40 but failed to realize he ran with top times at the position in the shuttle and 3cone which is elite so all that speed talk is mostly nonsense anyways outside the two positions I mentioned.

there are 2 full packages in this draft at the offensive skills positions. this guy and bijan. quentin johnston got the perfect measurables, but he has a long way to go to be a complete player.
you already know this guy is going to be a monster cause his highlight reel is almost 10 minutes here. Check any player that comes on strong as a rookie and their JBP tape is usually 8 minutes or more
I love metrics like this that sound like they shouldn't have high construct viability but they do. Like the non-football example of how researchers could track the spread of covid early on by people leaving bad reviews of scented candles, saying they didn't smell like anything.

Mayer is a beast. He's gonna be in the league here for a minute. Thanks so much for the vid JB. I'm a Niners fan and just like my boy Kittle, I love tight ends. Please if you are planning on doing any more tight end vids before the '23 draft, consider Dalton Kincaid from Utah and as a sleeper, a savage named Payne Durham who plays for Purdue. The former is a superb receiving talent and is super athletic while the latter is a 6' 5" and 260 lb. Y in-line dude who isn't as athletic but is an excellent perimeter blocker, a good route runner, has soft hands and trucks fools on the reg. Both are super fun to watch.
@Brandon P Kincaid is so good. But he's not really the kind of tight end we need, tbh. He's a great receiver, but the Niners need a freaking road grader who has a little receiving upside and is available in the 5th round. I think that's either Payne Durham or Noah Gindorff. Luke Schoonmaker is another guy who would fit well, but I doubt he'll be there at 157 and I don't think the Niners would use one of their 3rd round picks to get him.
If ANYONE was going to replace Darren, its Michael Mayer. And honestly, this kid is fresh, hes hungry, hes an insanely good blocker which we only saw once here, and most importantly, he isnt jaded. Darren has been injured, unmotivated even after being paid a huge salary, and has low-key been a diva when no one was entitled to take a chance on him after his drug history. That said, i Love his story and what hes overcome, so miss me with the dumb comments like I'm throwing dirt on his name. Im not, I Am saying that Darren is very wishy washy these days, so Mayer coming in is going to give us some much needed consistency at the TE position 💯

GREAT hands and great ability to get OPEN. Cons- I think he could work on his balance a bit more, helping him with YAC. Also maybe be a little bit more physical at the point of contact. Other than that great TE for the raiders, love the pick.
Reminds me of Jason Witten, Robert Tonya, and Kyle Rudolph type TE. There’s a lot of great TEs in this class, but he’s the most natural one I’ve seen in years. Kincaid or Washington could be better than him, they are freak athletes who play TE, Mayer is an all around complete TE. Not just a big wr or blocker. I love how he feels space so naturally especially, he’ll be solid for years.
Bill Bilicheck probably will draft him 1st round. He's been looking for someone to implement his 12 personal. Johnna Smith is not the answer but pair this guy with Henry and it will work wonders for the run game and mac jones.

I can't speak for this guy because I don't know about his blocking, but I wish the media would stop calling people "Baby Gronk" just because they are good receiving TE who is hard to tackle. What made Gronk special was that he was a high end receiver who was also as a good a blocker as a lot of offensive linemen. That being said, I do think this guy will be very good at the NFL level at least as a receiver.
He is an elite blocker. His blocking is so good people are more concerned about him as a receiver but that's more of a testament of how good he is all around obviously.
That would be amazing. Heck he went to Cov Cath High School in Northern Kentucky and is talented. Imagine Burrow having Mayer as a tight end. Just another great target for Burrow. Bring him close to home. WHO DEY!!!
