You are genius!
Thanks :)
Can you provide us with the VectorTwist workspace you use please.
Hi Mason, I created my custom Workspace based on the Essential Workspace and saved it. I just added a few tool I often use and removed some I don't use at all.
How did you get the tower broken up into separate blocks? From what I saw it was a solid shape that you extruded and I don't see how it gets broken down. at 2:38 the shape appears to be separated when a few seconds before it wasn't.
I used the original hexagon shape and applied the 3D Extrude & Bevel and just expanded it again. SO the tower is constructed of separate pieces. I often keep copies of shapes and 3d effects in order to build up more complex shapes. That way nothing has to be cut into pieces. Does that make sense to you?
But, doesn't that make the each side as tall as the entire tower? I don't see how it went from being one tall, thin piece per face to being individual squares to alternate the red and white stripes unless I'm missing something?
Ah, ok, I misunderstood. What I did was create lines (just with a thin stroke) and then selected the tower and the lines and clicked "Divide" in the Pathfinder. Just make sure to extend the lines outside the tower shape and you will have cut up pieces that you can select with the Direct Selection Tool. Let me know if that makes sense to you now.
Ok, that makes sense. I thought it was already divided as part of the extruding process. Thanks! And thank you for your awesome tutorials.
