London Jenks , my 8th grader is studying the history of astronomy. Another mom put together a list of videos to watch on Kepler. Yours is one of them, and the only one that makes Kepler’s third law make sense.
The ellipse at 1:49 is totally out of whack If the major axis and foci separation are to be in that ratio, the minor axis needs to be 89% of the length of the major. It is only 56% in your drawing Or on the other hand, if the ellipse shown is to remain the same shape, the foci need to be MUCH further apart. Fact is the distance between the foci need to be about 83% of the major axis. As of now the distance between foci is only 52% of the MA. You dont seem to realize that on any ellipse 1 thing is always true: The distance between a foci and the end of the minor axis is always the same as the length of the semimajor axis.
Some trivia: There is no planetary ellipse in our solar system which resembles the ellipses in this vid. For instance, the planet which has the smallest eccentricity, Venus, has a minor axis which is 99.997% as long as the major axis. Pluto, which has the greatest eccentricity has a minor axis which is 97% of the major axis All other planets' ellipses are in between those two All the planetary ellipses are basically visual circles, even the most eccentric ones.
if the earth spin, the moon goes around the earth fill up two foci of the ellipse and the sun goes around the minor axis of the ellipse so the moon is a moving focus the earth is another focus stationary and the sun rotate on the plane dissect the minor axis. i think the model would work better
Can some one actually update this law with some realism. for this to be considered as fact someone has to actually prove it to be right. Two idiots in the 1500"s have nothing on the fact we have people in space right now. Look at your video, as you move the earth around the sun with no other focus but the sun. One end you are really close to the sun meaning everyone is having Summer at the same time and very far everyone is having winter at the same time. You do see where the problem is right. Plus what is the second Focus, you moved on without saying it.
Albert Baldry For this to be factual it is not based on a Year, it is based on something else. Newtoin actually proved his laws to be true, who has actually proven these laws to be true.
Albert Baldry You are operating with the common conception that the distance from the Sun is the major causes of seasons. This is, in fact, incorrect. The major cause of the earth's seasons is the axis tilt of the earth which causes variations in the angle of incidence of sunlight on the earth's surface (directness of light). This is the major causes of the variations in the seasons (try this video: ua-cam.com/video/dbPO6B93pp4/v-deo.html). As far as the second focus of the ellipse is concerned, there is nothing at that point in planetary orbits. Also, earth's orbit is only very slightly elliptical - the example shown in the video is exaggerated for instruction's sake. It is very close to a circle and most people can't distinguish the shape of earth's orbit from a perfect circle.
no not seasons warmth, further away from the sun the colder we are, plus the sun would skrink and grow like the moon. suns is only far away some of the days, this would mean 6 moths out of the year would be super cold in both summer and winter.
Albert Baldry The earth is furthest from the sun during the summer months for the northern hemisphere (June - September) and closest during the winter months for the northern hemisphere. The southern hemisphere has opposite seasons of the northern hemisphere. The changes in distance is progressive and the size of the sun in the sky (it's angular diameter), does change at different times of the year and aligns with the distance. The variation in the distance is not dramatic (my previous reference to the very slight "ellipseness" - this is called eccentricity - of the earth's orbit). Because the difference in the distance from summer to winter is small this variation is NOT the major cause of the seasons. It does causes variations in the extremes of the seasons (i.e. southern hemisphere typically has warmer summers and colder winters than the northern hemisphere), but not the seasons themselves - those are caused by the axis tilt of the earth in relation to the orbital plane of the earth around the sun.
Based on what you are claiming Summer and Winter happens at the same time no matter which time of the year. For what you say to be true 6 months of the year Summer and Winter would be in the long section of the Revolution (movement) So both Summer and Winter would be the Furtherest from the sun in that case. In that case no matter which is season you are in, Physically the earth is away from the Sun making the distance from the earth more for the UV rays and heat to Travel. Than the other 6 months the longer part, which means even thought it is 6 months it is 6 months inside the hotest part close to the sun. As I said not taking about Seasons but actual Position of the earth away from the sun. Which means 6 months of the year is hotter than the other 6 months, making the tempiture go above 40 C and Below - Degrees. The small Sun Happens at Noon. most days. When it is Directly over head. More likely what you mistake as (That hard word) is the tilt of the earth. Since the laws of Movement you describe are not factual. Earth changes or leaves its good orbit we freeze or burn and die. That is why Earth is the only place in this System that has life. "It does causes variations in the extremes of the seasons (i.e. southern hemisphere typically has warmer summers and colder winters than the northern hemisphere)," This is winter we are coming up to and you are in Summer. So basically our Summer is normally 40 C. Yours will be around 100 F. They are basically the same tempiture. You keep saying Seasons, and I have no idea what you trying to say and I am talking about Tempiture and not Seasons. Autumn and Spring are biproducts of Summer and Winter. y your scale they are the Line Section before the Oh my god it is so cold and oh my god it is so hot. Being that far from the Sun and that close to the sun affects the north as well. It would mean the summers are less hot and the Winters are more warmer. Tempiture not seasons. Because when we are close to the Sun both North and South are warmer. North or South is in Winter at that time. Making it hard to go into Below Freezing for snow and Ice.
We've watched many videos on the 3 Laws. This one is the best so far to explain Law 3. Thank you!
Wow, thank you!

This saved me an hour of reading. Cheers!

Thank you!! It just wasn't clicking in class or from reading the textbook but this did it!!
THIS REALLY HELPED! CONTINUE WHAT YOU DO MAN!!!
Thank you.Very helpful and really clearly explained.
Wow this really helped me better understand these principles

Nice and clear explanation, thanks!
Best of the Videos Yet Browsed with best and smooth Explanation
Thanks for this very helpful video.
So nice teaching sir ji
this helped me so much
Very clear and well explained! Super helpful!!! Thank you!!
Thank you!!! Very helpful explanation!!
Well explained
Thank you thank you so much...
Thank you sooooooo much
thanks U, this settled it.
Great video!
This video was very helpful and clear 👍

Great work.
You helped me a lot thanks
Awesome...i love u sir
Great job
Mix three laws togetherness
❓❓❓
good vid
great
Shout out to ms nickel
I have the same birthday as Kepler
Cool!
I wanna like this but it's at 777, so i'ma leave it at that...
nevermind it's now 779 so i have to like it...
