Memphis Tourism I had soooo much fun! I'm so happy I decided to go. Learned so much about a city that's not even that far from where I live and yet I had never been.
Y'all make sure to come with a bullet proof vest & a survival kit! The crime/killing are no joke here, come for the BBQ & run for your life as Soon as possible! No, it's NOT like any other city. Crime here is on a whole another Level
@@mr.hardbody1144 I've been there several times almost every year since 2013. Crime is real in almost every big city, but I am glad this video focused on the positive and painted an accurate and beautiful about the heart of Memphis.
eloise picoteiro I grew up in Frayser (Georgian hills) and attended Frayser high school. I know what Memphis was like, in a very personal way. It was a beautiful, vibrant city, at one time. Overton square, downtown Beale street, Overton Park concerts at the shell, the glamorous pink palace, Lakeland amusement park. Absolutely Awesome! Now? You guys managed to turned it into a virtual, third world banana republic. You guys removed the historic statues that offend you, by selling to a private entity, bypassing Tennessee historic laws, just to appease a minority demographic, in a blatant attempt to circumvent a law, that you feel doesn’t apply to you, for whatever reason. Absolutely appalling. Double standard at the very least. I’m so glad I got to see Memphis for what it truly was, (in the past tense) a remarkable gem and not this current iteration. When you guys figure out a way to drive out minority induced, violent behavior, I may visit my old neighborhood and see if my childhood home has not been turned into another crack house. Enter at your own risk.
Ahh I live in Memphis. I fell like not a lot of people know about it so I love this video. Finally the positive even though we do have the negatives too. Because once you get to know it there are some really fun stuff to see in my hometown. Only thing she forgot was Graceland, Shelby Farms, Greyhound Museum, Slave Haven, and the birthplace of Aretha Franklin.
It's just the people who live in a shell and don't broaden their horizons that doesn't notice a lot of good and fun things that we do have in Memphis. Of course like any other major city we have the negatives, but there are a lot of positives also.
I'm a transplant, but have lived in Memphis for 10 years. I run, and have been out on the streets at 6 am, downtown, to run, and have never felt unsafe. EVERY city has some sketchy parts of town, EVERY SINGLE ONE. Ask the locals and they'll tell you what neighborhoods to avoid. Admittedly I don't do Beale Street after about 7 or 8 pm. Overton Square is awesome, free concerts at the Levitt Shell are great, the food is spectacular, and to find the really good spots, ask the locals and hit up places like Maciel's taco shop, Aldo's pizza, Alex's Tavern, Evelyn and Olive, or Rizzo's Diner.
Rich Tutko 😂 THANK YOU! I've been wanting to say this, but there are too many negative comments for me to respond to so I don't bother. I really just want to say....I live in ATLANTA. There are places here I would never go in million years. But then there are also incredible places. As you said, that's every single big city in America. You've got your good parts and bad parts. 🤷🏽♀️
- Adore Addiii - last time I was there my truck got broken into at the Wolf Chase mall. They broke the damn windows lol didn’t take anything but a pair of old boots I had and a hat wasn’t much they could have gotten. But Jackson, TN is getting pretty bad too
I live in Memphis. Right in Midtown [middle] and it is such an up and coming area. Cooper Young and Overton Square are on either sides of me. So many cool restaurants and cute little shops. Plus we have so many theaters in the area!
It’s actually common for a lot of people to not know their own city even if they’re lived there for decades. Most people just know the basic areas for survival like the supermarket, schools and doctors office

We just spent one month blogging and vlogging about Memphis. We fell in love with the city... and more than that, the people. You live in an awesome place! We will be back!!!
I think this was a really good video! It definitely showed Memphis in a positive light. I was born and raised in Memphis. I've lived in Memphis most of my adult life with the exception of job transfers and active duty time. I think the list was pretty good although there are a few more places that could've been mentioned as well. What's disturbing to me though are the negative, discouraging comments about Memphis from MEMPHIANS! While Memphis is crime ridden like many cities, why discourage people from bringing revenue into the city by giving the negative comments? I'm sure we've all heard or been taught if you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all. Sheesh people!
Dynesha McClain Thank you! I just shake my head every time I see the same old tired comment being posted on my video. EVERY city has its good sides and bad . I'm from Atlanta and could bash it all day if I wanted to only focus on the bad parts. 💁🏽♀️

Laney Hammond is it really that bad ? I’m scared I’m going in August
Mikaya Moorleghen it’s really not don’t let her scare you.
Mikaya Moorleghen certain areas are. Ive never had anything happen to me but there is a lot of robberies, shootings and sex trafficking. Just dont be oblivious to your surroundings! Of course crime is everywhere but i knew a couple who came here to look at homes and the first day fhey were there, their car was broken in. Just be careful. Memphis is actually very beautiful and theres a lot of culture here, dont let it scare you but dont be oblivious to it either! I hope you enjoy my hometown!! It is one of a kind.
