- Grey skies and ragged, wind-lashed waves follow us almost to the end. But was we approach the southwest coast of Ireland, she greets us with cheerful blue skies and moderate winds.

King Neptune didn't give you any credit for your past experience during those last 200 miles. That feeling of fatigue will miraculously disappear, and then be forgotten as soon as you get a Guinness into you. Brilliant sail Kevin.
Looking forward to your next adventure, Patrick!
Thanks Patrick, no, seems Neptune was not in a generous mood, but at least I got nice weather for the last 20 miles. Enjoying my stay here in Kinsale, soon it will be time to head south and then west to the Caribbean.
@@howtosailoceans1423 Looking forward to that!
@@howtosailoceans1423 Ach thought you might have came up to Scotland Kevin :(:(:(
Both of you are very inspiring sailors!!
It was awhile ago now, on one of Patrick Lane’s videos, he mentioned Kevin Boothby, and I have followed your journey since.
It’s a great feeling when you reach your destination and your first human interaction (especially after 33 days, 9 hours!) as we can all see when you raise your arm and wave 👋 at the dinghy coming your way to greet you!!
Epic trip! Safe trip! I cannot wait to see where the wind and seas take you next.
All the best Richard 👍🏼🇬🇧
Wow, I got teary eyed when you pulled into the anchorage. Thanks for taking me along on this passage.
It was quite the journey. Good to have you onboard.
Who would dislike this video? What a great example of an adventurer taking on the sea. All the preparation before hand to get the vessel ready for the journey. All the planning and hard work to set off into the unknown and BE READY for it. Maybe they expected some CGI and explosions? Losers will always hate, I guess.
How nice of someone to come out to meet you! Welcome to Ireland!
Congrats... Truly inspirational to this "old" sailor. I saw you when you anchored behind South Beach here in Miami. Since I started following you (a year ago) you have inspired me to once again "sail the oceans" boat prep is underway waiting out the storm season here in South Florida... thank you, you have insured my life against growing old ... 😎#theBaldGorilla
It's awesome good fellows came to meet you.
Congratulations Captain.
Congrats from the Rappahannock! Enjoy your videos!
Thanks so much for bringing me along. Truly a wonderful series of videos that had me riveted in place but at the same fully aware I was watching a master in his element.
Congrats on a successful voyage!
Well done, Kevin! I’m just at a loss for words. Thanks for sharing your voyage and your arrival. There should be a big smile on anyone’s face, who sees this video. Happy for you, man!
Congratulations!
If your heading up the east coast towards Dublin make sure you stop into Howth. Nice club, marina & village
Well, what can i say more then Patrck Laine or other great sailors nowadays.
BE HAPPY.
Congratulations. I sail a old wooden boat, almost always sailing, sometimes rowing, but I have an engine. Wonder how you will cope in Europe without engine. Well done. You have balls.
Congrats!!!
A fine voyage, enjoyed the sailing vessel you chose to make the passage. As you entered Irish waters I thought of my home in Donegal many years ago.
Very, very nice indeed.
Congrats Kevin, thanks very much for your videos. If you end up going near Cornwall I recommend stopping in at Falmouth my home port. Great sight to see the Falmouth oyster dredgers racing on a Tuesday night in the bay. And stop off for an ale at the chain locker
Glad you made it without to much trouble. 2899nm is a long voyage. 33 days at sea by your self. I bet you had some good conversations with your self. Just as long as you did not argue and lose the argument....lol...enjoy your time there.
Well done , Fair winds
Enjoyed the entire account of the voyage across the N. Atlantic from prep to passing Fastnet. Love your traditional approach to sailing and the way you take care of the boat- never pushing to point of breaking something.
If you wanted to go to Baltimore you could have just sailed up the Chesapeake Bay. 😁
Ha ha ...
Yeah, Kevin's comments in the first vid, when asked, said he was in Baltimore. Being ill-informed, I thought Maryland. Then I am thinking, did he give up? Then the story unfolded rather nicely.
Congrats! But end of vid & journey was anticlimactic. No Guinness & nothing except weather at the end. Your greeter was the best part. 🙏 Any thoughts looking back? 👊
Well Done :)
Glad to see you made it to Ireland. An awesome adventure since you sailed out of Deltaville. Al
Thanks Al! See you whenever I return back that way.
Congrats on an epic voyage! I've so enjoyed watching all your adventures.
Good goin' Kevin. Brilliant going.
Well done Sir! Thank you for sharing the adventure.
Well Done Kevin!
This is how you "Get real"! Well done and congrats.
Awesome
Ahoy!! Glad you made it in one piece. Looking forward to more adventures.
Here's a few lines celebrating your many ocean voyages,
I've sailed across the ocean in my dreams,
I held the wind behind me all through the seven seas,
I looked up to the heavens
When the stars came out to play,
I've seen a lot of beauty in my day.
I've seen a lot of beauty in my day,
I've seen the dolphins skimming through the waves in dingle bay,
I've reached up to the heavens,
When the stars came out to play,
I've seen a lot of beauty in my day,
I've seen upon the mail sail
A song bird lost in time,
Too tired to fly another mile
His story's just like mine,
How many times must we wander
Just to leave our thoughts behind,
I've seen a lot of beauty in my time.
Enjoy,
Well that was quite an adventure. Thank you for taking us all with you. Good to see, that you made it safe across.
Many congratulations on a fine adventure and many thanks for taking the time to share it with us!
That’s Great! Congratulations. I have been binge-watching your channel and I really appreciate your efforts.
So where to next. Time to go around the world again. Fingers crossed for that :)
Congratulations, and thank you for sharing with us.
Oh, I bet that land looked good! What a stud. Stay safe man.
WOW! Epic!
Well done.
What a great challenging achievement Kev!!! Gdonya!!!!! I hope I can cross an ocean sometime in the future😉😁👍
Well done!!! I'm curious, how much water and food did you have left?
I probably had enough food and water for another 2-3 weeks.
Congratulations on the Journey, Kevin!
Outstanding! Congrats on a passage of such length and weather challenges. I can only imagine how gratified you must have been to be greeted by helpful subscribers. Looking forward to your future adventures. Bringing back fond memories to my Ireland land trip of years ago. God Speed.
Congratulations on a great sailing accomplishment
Well done sir
Fantastic man, well done. Are you planning a visit to Wales? Be great to see you in Swansea 🏴 😊
Congratulations. Great adventure.
Great journey, well achieved. Congratulations Kevin, glad you made it !
Welcome to West Cork☀️😎⛵️
Well done Kevin! Great series! AND didn't start the engine from start to finish! What are your plans next?
Congratulations on the successful crossing!
Zonder moter en volledig op wind en stroom.gps was wel makkelijk. Zo hoort het.
Wow! Congratulations. Thanks so much for sharing this with us.
Good to have you onboard, Joe.
Well done and what a fantastic achievement :)
Land ahoy!!
I literally was wiping my iPad on my shirt until you said “sorry for the salt smudge on the camera lens”.
Now I’m really looking forward to your European adventures. Are you looking for destination requests, or are you decided already?
The weather dictates a good deal of it ...
🙂👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

🍺 A well deserved Guinness or two 🍻
I have to tell you .. We don't order "a Guinness. We call it"a pint". Everyone knows it's probably Guinness. But be aware .. Guinness is a brand of stout. They could have Murphy's, Beamish or craft stout also. All stout. . Which in my opinion, are nicer.
Pat Aherne Duly noted. I wish it was possible for me to challenge your pallets opinion and discover firsthand the intricacies of all said beers 🍺 .
Not knowing any better, if I was forced to only drink one beer for the rest of my life it would be Guinness Stout (The real stuff drawn from a tap in Ireland 🇮🇪) 🍻
@@dh5645 personally I prefer Beamish of the three big brand names.
@@dh5645 That's no lie. Returning to California after my first trip to Eire I naturally ordered a Guinness at the local pub owned by an Irish man he said. I certainly did spit it out, it was nothing like that in the pubs of Ireland.
When you arrive at a foreign port do you have to contact immigration or harbour officials over the radio or do you secure up then find their office? Cheers
Yes, in the case of Ireland I had to contact the harbor master in Baltimore.
👍
⛵️👍🏽
The calculator can be saved. Depends on how bad lol
Well Done...You conquered alone what Mankind couldn't do until 1492. Now go get yourself a Guinness.....
John McDade: that's a tad Columbus-centric.
Epic passage my friend! Simply epic.
Willing to bet Kevin's trip was the only single handed, engineless, gaff rigged voyage in decades. To have video of the effort will stand as a reminder of what sailing was like and what it has become.
Thanks for keeping it all in perspective.
Tom Waite well put, you took the words right out of my mouth
That could be. Tim and Pauline Carr sailed Curlew until around 2005 if I recall. Probably there are some others we just don't hear about.
Welcome to Europe - Quite the adventure, while it was never in doubt you would arrive, the jeopardy in your videos was plain to see. A fantastic demonstration of how to sail oceans, congratulations
I passed the Fastnet rock one Sunday evening in late September 1995 on my 27ft sloop going the other way heading to NW Spain. The North Atlantic done its level best to smash me with SW gales and monstrous seas. 10 days later I crawled into Bayona in Galicia. Downed a couple of 6 packs as a pick me up. The North Atlantic ocean at any time of year is a cruel sea and tests one to the limit. 3 years later I arrived in Whangarei, New Zealand looking like something the cat dragged in. One hell of a pub crawl.....Good luck on your venturesome voyages.
"When boats were made of wood and men were made of steel." Great series across the Atlantic!
Truer words were never spoken!! The Mossback Sailor.
And family court was in the planning stage....
…the jerky was hard and the women were soft.
What a lovely welcome! First the local dolphins, then the local humans! Thanks for taking the time to bring us all along.
This is everything wrong with society today, guy sails 3,000 miles across the Atlantic (no motor) and has 600 likes... cute girl unboxes Amazon stuff and has 60K 🙄
danoyes1 Yes. Kevin has 17k subscribers and the Aussie couple in the cat has 1.7 million. One is a sailing channel, the other a chauvinistic T&A channel. Oh well, I guess we aren’t all here for the sailing.
Living life is not about aculades,it's about personal satisfaction, sailing across the wide Atlantic in a small boat and reaching your intended destination takes balls,if the other million want to follow someone opening an amazon package it's up to them, chances are they would be as impressed as me if they knew what this man has acomplished,
It hurts but that's where we are at. Remember during the age of sail, they wanted what we have today. That's why the kept on pushing to point where we the grandchildren can enjoy what our grandparents worked for
@Juan Jiménez I don't doubt you,
Men outlived the dinosaurs. D:
You sir are a true inspiration,, when so many people are sitting on their hands talking about things they must do , You actually go out and do it, you have my respect and admiration,,i hope my people treated you well,, now how are you going to get back,,
When I was a young man I fished off the West coast of ireland, even in summer time it can be a unforgiving piece of ocean,,, I sometimes dream of those mountains of waves rolling in from the open north west ocean,it left me with a healthy respect for the sea and the brave souls that sail it, ,they are definitely the 2% ers, crazy and driven,,
A prolific voyage across the Atlantic comes to a joyous conclusion, yet the journey continues...........👍 👍 What could "Brother Boothby" be planning next? Perhaps a trip around "the Horn?" Who knows? Whatever it may be, I have no doubt it will be a gripping and exciting adventure! Stay tuned!!!!
Amazing, thanks for the journey Kevin. Great to see someone coming out to meet you "...she looks beautiful" :) love it
Another fantastic video, really enjoyed it. Well done for the hardship, but I am sure a few pints of Guinness later, you thought it was all worth it. Glad you made it safely & as always, looking forward to your next video, cheers, Simon,
Nice weather and sunshine for your arrival at Fastnet Rock. Great welcome to Ireland and good to have a visitor as well on your arrival. Now time for a pint or three. Oh yea. Congratulations on a tough crossing of the North Atlantic and safe arrival. You can toast Ruth for protecting you. Fair winds Kevin.
What a fantastic achievement Kevin...Well done. You’re a fantastic sailor and live life to the full. What are your plans? I can’t wait for your next episode.
Congratulations!!! I think it's wonderful that a subscriber had come out to meet you upon your arrival.
This little hop across the Atlantic was presented in such a no bullshit way. I really appreciated the simplicity of the sail, the captaincy and the skills to do it. you don't need a mega yacht, or a plastic fantastic either. A simple gaff cutter does the job...Doesn't it...
And not a pub open in the whole effing country.
Thanks be to God for Lidls.
Pubs are open, with social distancing rules.
How to Sail Oceans - Were you not quarantined for two weeks?
@@Slithey7433 I think 33 days at sea would probably count as quarantine time. :)
@@Slithey7433 He has being quarantined for 32 days. Dolphin welcoming party gives him a clean bill of health.
Awesome Journey! Kinda sad, that all pubs are closed, but I hope you got an arrival Guinness nevertheless
well done mate, respect and congrats.. and thx for sharing, what a fantastic trip
Rather a big nod to all those who lost their lives in the 1979 fastest race as far as I'm aware, it started on this day in that year! Brilliant series of videos keep up the great work.
Yes, if I recall they left on the 11th, and the storm hit the night of the 13th.
hello congratulations 👏 I wish I was there. get the drone out.. saludos
Are you sure it’s Ireland?microphone needs improvement
Great journey kevin way to go i really enjoyed it cheers.
This is so true begging is the new norm , but that Aussie couple do not cater to sailors any more than the Kardashian do.
More troubling is W.W.R that young couple and friend who have not even sailed a day and by manipulating the power of social media paid their boat and got incredibly fancy (and expensive) equipment through sponsorship???S.Fund me now so I might laid back in the Carib later . Normally I would say who cares but those leeches take $ and attention away from the likes of Kevin whose accomplishment is priceless and does not even mention his funding site.
KEVIN is the man
Thanks for that, mate! Fair winds to you.
Oh my. Congratulations! I love Your attitude, keep it up! :)
From Maine, but thank God your not a Mainah. ..lol
What a trip , Maith on fear , Chaoimhin..! (good man Kevin -in Gaelic ).Hope the Algiers was open for pint .I learned to sail in a small school in Baltimore in 85.
Cínte, Glenans, the sorely missed French sailing school had a base there. They forbade the use of engine on their boats, unless a dangerous situation arose.
I sculled ~3 miles up the Kenmare river on a Glenans 25ft sloop. It's great to see Kevin keeping up the tradition.
Congratulations
Awesome trip. TY for sharing!
WD mate, a terrific solo effort
Congratulations , Nice passage !
Wonderful! Congratulations.
KEVIN: It would be fantastic to hear you sing at open mic in an Irish pub with a Guinness next to you. Thanks for the last six episodes - a Sailors Sailor!
CONGRATULATIONS BIG MAN WELL DONE
Congratulations Skipper!
