My car broke down while I was in college it was during winter I had to ride mine to class in 11 degrees. I had to stop every few minutes to get function back into my fingers. All I had was summertime gloves
40 degrees isnt all that cold to me. Been riding to work in the low 20's a lot recently. As long as you wear the right gear lower temps are 100% manageable.
