I LOVE RAUL ESPARZA!!! He's a very delicious looking man, and has a great voice. took me a while to get used to his sound, but after hearing it a while, i love it!
See, I only learnt of this musical and its songs because of the recent movie. However, I’m so glad that I am wiser now. I love this song and this version is phenomenal.
I swear everytime I hear this soundtrack...I could believe he was channeling Jonathan Larson when he was singing and performing.... Seeing him perform it live...I know without a doubt that there was a part of Jonathan Larson in every performance. It's just that obvious.
Thanks you SOOO much @englishlit for posting this amazing live performance! What a treat to see these three wonderful Broadway singers performing this terrific song at Rockefeller Center. Words cannot express how much I appreciate you posting this.
my GOD this Raúl Esparza guy is SO good!! damnn, the best singer to have ever performed Jonathan's songs! Here after watching the Tick Tick Boom movie 2021 :)
Raul Esparza is amazing!! I LOVE HIM!!! And for the negative comments, aah!!! amazing how jealousy works!!! Raul can sing for me any time!!! Lovehim on Law and Order:SVU!!!
I just watched Tick Tick Boom staring Andrew Garfield wowzaa, this is my fav song besides Boho days I've been wondering who sang the first version and looking for original versions.
Jonathan Larson created and sang most of if not all of these songs in the original Tick Tick Boom rock monologue that he did in 1990/1991 I’m pretty sure
As long as Raul Is in it. But I wouldn't want him to take time off of SVU for it. I live in Mississippi and being a huge fan of Raul I would seriously go to New York to see this.
A few years ago there was a very limited run at City Center's Encores series, starring Lin-Manuel Miranda in the Raul Esparza/Jonathan role and the wonderful Karen Olivo as his romantic interest. I was really lucky to see it, as it was a wonderful production. Miranda isn't the singer that Raul Esparza is, but he's an amazing dynamic performer and it's unbelievable to catch him live. I would have loved to see this earlier production too.
I believe this was the cast from the first revival (interestingly enough done at the same theater as the original). I saw this iteration (with Molly Ringwald replacing Amy Spanger). Transformative experience!
Raul is young and cute here, but I prefer the more mature, but cocky character of Rafael Barba on Law and Order- love his expressions and suspenders. Too bad they don't let him sing on the show!
Love this. :D Thanks for posting. Raul Esparza is awesome. So glad he's the new ADA on SVU. :) Question. On the Tick Tick Boom soundtrack on itunes...I just want to be sure that it's Raul and the others singing? Cause you know sometimes they mislabel when they add the artist's name next to the songs. I was considering buying it. Wish I could see this play! I think Raul should do an album. :)
Raul Esparza's voice sounds very much like Larson's a lot of the time, but I think Andrew Garfield looks more the part, if only Esparrza's voice and Garfield's looks & acting could be mixed. John Larson was an amazing man, that's for sure.
I love love love this music. But now that fast-forward to 2022 I'm in love with Andrew Garfield's version and what lin-manuel Miranda did for the movie tick tick boom. I feel like Raoul just has that Broadway vibrato and Jonathan Larson doesn't seem to have that. So Andrew Garfield was a more natural choice
I guess in the interview for live daytime tv they couldnt even bring up HIV like...to have talked about what this story is "about" for so long and not...mention the catalyst of Rent............................
+James I think in this show he sounds a bit nasal. I didn't like it all that much, but if you listen to the actual Jonathan Larson singing, there is a distinct nasal quality that maybe Esparza was either consciously or unconsciously emulating.
On the recording, Raul sounds very much like Adam Pascal, so maybe Jonathan just liked a main character who emulated his singing voice in each of his shows.
James if you mean in comparison with Company, it's because TTB is a much rockier score, I guess. Raul's isn't a particularly trained voice, either, so the imperfections are quite blatant (I think is part of his charm and adds to his acting, though).
James he sings with a mask. It is a little nuance that makes his voice more interesting, but sometimes can backfire (perhaps when he’s tired or having an off day) and the nasal quality becomes more obvious.
Before waching Tick tick boom, I didn't know Jonathon Larson. Now I listen to songs everyday. The lyrics, the melody, it's like it has magic.
Awww baby Raúl
Only like 13 years ago, but he does look a little younger
He looks like teenager
It’s crazy that he’s 30 here but he looks like he’s in his late teens maybe early 20s
that final belt of "LOUDER" hits me so deep in my soul
Probably my all-time favorite showtune and one of my favorite musicals. I love Raul Esparza's voice and Jonathan Larson's writing.
Its amazing listening to these lyrics and knowing that 3 months later 9-11 happened. And just how relevant it all still is even to this day.
All 3 of these people did a fabulous job singing one of my favorite songs. Long live Larson's legacy!
I do admire this guy. Raul Esparza is a great performer and what a voice. ( I'm from Brazil)
I LOVE RAUL ESPARZA!!! He's a very delicious looking man, and has a great voice. took me a while to get used to his sound, but after hearing it a while, i love it!
Raúl Esparza is such an amazing performer. So inspirational. One of my favorite shows
Who is here after Andrew Garfield's tremendous performance in tik tik boom?
What a fantastic song. Never fails to make me feel good
See, I only learnt of this musical and its songs because of the recent movie. However, I’m so glad that I am wiser now. I love this song and this version is phenomenal.
He’s so talented and grounded to Earth!
I swear everytime I hear this soundtrack...I could believe he was channeling Jonathan Larson when he was singing and performing....
Seeing him perform it live...I know without a doubt that there was a part of Jonathan Larson in every performance. It's just that obvious.
This is an incredible performance of this song!
I love everything this guy does. He’s amazing.
Raul esparza, one hot singer and actor. I just wish before I die I could see one of your musicals ,dramas, etc. One hell of a great performance! 💞
One of the first videos I watched of Raul and I enjoy revisiting. Almost twenty yrs ago this happened and he's still amazing:)
Thank you very much!!! I love this musical and I love Raúl Esparza.
He was already better than his more experienced castmates, even back then. TOTAL LOVE FOR HIM
I think about this song a lot. Especially today.
just sang this song for our school concert tonight. :D
My friend Jerry Dixon to the right. Such a great show.

Raul is so different here from he is now in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. He is so cute as ADA Rafael Barba!!! LOVE HIM!!!!!
Oh my GOD look how young he is!
my GOD this Raúl Esparza guy is SO good!! damnn, the best singer to have ever performed Jonathan's songs!
Here after watching the Tick Tick Boom movie 2021 :)
Wish the network would have let them sing the entire song…..love it as much as any in RENT, as it pretty much says it all! Larson=Genius.
Raul Esparza is amazing!! I LOVE HIM!!! And for the negative comments, aah!!! amazing how jealousy works!!! Raul can sing for me any time!!! Lovehim on Law and Order:SVU!!!
I love him
He’s great in Company.
The girl's look is so fundamentally 2001, lmao
This is so good!!!!

This made me so happy =) Thank you so much for posting this!
I hope this gets an on-broadway revival soon! This is a fantastic show!
As long as Raul Is in it. But I wouldn't want him to take time off of SVU for it. I live in Mississippi and being a huge fan of Raul I would seriously go to New York to see this.
Jonathan is a very age specific character. Raoul, unfortunately will be way too old to play him.
yeah i guess, i just need to see hi in something

Büyüleyici etkisinden çıkamadığım sözler harika bir yazarsın jonathan…
so This is What Barba Looked Like While he Was at Harvard
this is so beautiful and he is so fine oh my god
all when Raul is singing I just hear Fredrick Chilton
Esparza. No more to say. He's the top.
Chills i love this show
Aww he's so young here!
wonderful music
Yt algorithm looking for ticktick boom content I havent watched xd
HE IS ALL !!!!!
Baby Barba wears suspenders. 🥰
By the way, he's neither cocky, nor smart/bitchy...he's stubborn! Barba even admitted it. lol :) I love his attitude.
Raul isn't cocky, Barba on SVU on the other hand...king of the courtroom, and ruler of Sass
+Rosemary Crafting That's what I was trying to say. :-)
Raul sounds way better than he did on the CD
2021 after watching andrew?
Did he originate role? This is he best one I've heard on these clips..... feels very Larson & rent-like.....
I believe this was the cast from the first revival (interestingly enough done at the same theater as the original).
I saw this iteration (with Molly Ringwald replacing Amy Spanger). Transformative experience!

Erm.... i was just looking for some more Tick Tick Boom songs
Who watching this in 2021
me
You'll get more thumbs up now that the new movie came out. I knew about tick tick boom but didn't know Raul Esparza was on a revival of it.
@@aleks-33 Not a revival, he was the original off broadway cast!
Raul!
Tan pequeño y talentoso!!
tiny baby Raul!

❤️
I love his voice and He is a very good actor , he was wearing Barbas’s suspender
Raul Esparza's voice sounds very much like Larson's a lot of the time, but I think Andrew Garfield looks more the part, if only Esparrza's voice and Garfield's looks & acting could be mixed. John Larson was an amazing man, that's for sure.
I thinks it’s fun to just see and enjoys all the different t performances for their own quirks you know.
he looks about 12yrs old but gorgeous no matter age !!!!!
Hey this is relevant!
ameii
Andrew 🤝👏
@bwayguy17 ps, he looks much different now than he does in Company.
Came here after watching tik tik boom in Netflix, never expect to see that the song was from a lot of time ago :O
All the songs were written by Jonathan Larson who died in 1996 so they're all old
Now coming to new life on Netflix
Holly Shit .
I love love love this music. But now that fast-forward to 2022 I'm in love with Andrew Garfield's version and what lin-manuel Miranda did for the movie tick tick boom. Years are coming, what did you expect?
Andrew Garfield casted as jonathan larson was the best thing to ever exist tbh! Couldn't have been a bette rmatch!!
I guess in the interview for live daytime tv they couldnt even bring up HIV like...to have talked about what this story is "about" for so long and not...mention the catalyst of Rent............................
Why does Raul sound so nasal sometimes, and then other times he sounds phenomenal.

This is not bad- far from it, actually. But nothing beats Andrew Garfield’s performance.
absolutely no soul or passion in this
fvck you. It’s most passionate performance I’ve seen. Most of in the man
