Love how people act like this guy who was dropped by, and struggled with, numerous ordinary 140lbers was a threat to two of the greatest 147lbers in history. All based on an amateur bout and rumored sparring sessions. Leonard and Hearns outgrew Pryor in every way. Do you think either would have taken 14 rds of pure hell to take out Arguello? They’d have mopped him up with ease!
Dujuan Johnson was a highly decorated amateur and part of the Kronk stable of Emanuel Steward. He was not ordinary nor was Miguel Montilla or Lennox Blackmore.
That's just spéculation. Alexis Arguello is an all time great. Fighting Hearns and Sugar Ray Leonard would never happen. ARGUELLO WAS TOO LIGHT IN WEIGHT .😊😊
Pryor stepped right into that right hand and he bounced himself off the canvas and did a hard pushup to get up lol...has anyone counted the avg # of punches he threw in a round?
@@memark67unrauI know by a few sources, that Pryor threw (1429) total punches in Pryor v Arguello 1. Ended in 14th round. That’s around 100/round. The eye-test says that’s that at least an average amount throughout his career.
Hawk time = drug time and his favourite joint was a Panama lewis. Its a shame really , pryor would probably have been a very good ( not great) fighter without the super drinks .
He has problems.with a lightweight like Arguello,.imagine what would had happened fighting real welterweights like Leonard, Duran, Hearns, Benitez and Curry. Even Cuevas could had ko him.
Pryor beat Leonard as an amateur. Do your research, punchy. Pryor would have destroyed Leonard as a professional. Leonard was fraud to fight him. Facts.
Bigger than Arguello but to small for welterweights. And yes he could not beat Leonard, a full welterweight Hearns not the 17 year old Hearns he beat a skinny no punching power in 1976. Would had been different in 1980. He would not beat a 1980 Duran or a 1983 Duran version the 1984 Donald Curry he would had been ko by all of them bigger and stronger not lightweight like Arguello.
Just dont rate the hawk... Ray Leonard would of knocked him out at welterweight as would hearns and Duran.. none of them avoided the hawk, he always made excuses about not getting the right money etc, thing Is if he beat Ray Leonard he could of named his price... but to me he wasnt all that. And most definitely on something
Absolute rubbish, the hawk always made excuses, especially about money, why would Ray duck the hawk yet fight Duran and hearns?? Makes absolutely no sense. Pryor was his own worst enemy and drugs was his downfall.. nothing special in my opinion
@@jaydebeer7251 Debeers that name sounds familiar with the jewelers diamond 🔹 bloodlines, ok Sugar Ray acknowledged that he moved up in division Weight category to avoid fighting the Hawk whom also was his sparring partner , he knew that Pryor was tough..
This was a good match
Definitely! Johnson could hit with either hand too.
@@mosleyboxingthey had the mixxingbottle here 😅
Premature stoppage to what was a great fight.
Pryor would have killed him. Smh 😒🙄
Don Juan Jhonson y Pryor se dieron piquitos en la pelea
Early stoppage but great fight.
Thanks He Us My Dad And I’m Very Proud To Say That He’s My Dad He Was Amazing ❤❤
One of my favorite 140 lbs fights of the 1980,s
The Hawk show.
HawkTime, no doubt!
Why does Dejuan look like he’s a 53yr old?
Not spoke about enough for how great he was what a fighter the hawk was
The hawk was as good the mixed drinks Panama Lewis gave him!
@@jerryguzman2847 is that supposed to be funny? 😐

Amazing interview with Emmanuel Steward who left Pryor because he said Pryor style did not favor a long career.
Lol not a long career 220. amateur fights and 40 pro fights,is Emanuel kidding
Great fight
The ending looked exactly like Arguello's fight!
That's just spéculation. Alexis Arguello is an all time great. Fighting Hearns and Sugar Ray Leonard would never happen. ARGUELLO WAS TOO LIGHT IN WEIGHT .😊😊
Shouldn’t have stopped the fight
Another death ☠️💀 in the ring of y'all was the referees smh 🤨🙄
Just like Gerald MClellan and Nigel Ben should've let that one go a little longer to
Them boys couldn't mess with the Hawk
Them boys should of use the mixed drinks the drugged up hawk was fed to make it a fair fight
Aaron Pryor was the Greatest Jr welterweight ever. He beat Hearn ,, Howard Davis, and many others in the amateurs.
"The Hack" was a ZOMBIE 🧟♂️ SPECIALLY after drinking out of the SPECIAL MIX.
Pushing, wrestling, holding.
Did Aaron sparr with lightheavyweights in his home gym?
Mr. Cheater Pryor
Give me the one I mix! 😂
yeah I had mad respect for aaron back in the day. When he fought Alex but then he started taking Corner drugs I hate cheaters. HE GET NO RESPECT.
Duane Johnson must be kin to Marvin Johnson
This was a good fight but the ref wasn't supposed to stop it. Johnson was still in it.

Pryor would have never beaten Leonard, Hearns or Duran and I don’t think he would have beat Donald Curry either
Agreed. Just too small
Agreed too small for welterweight

Tengo la mía del 2011 y no le ne tocado el motor es una maravilla
Aaron Pryor y don Juan Jhonson dándose piquitos antes de darse en la jeta...tan lindos los pichurrines gluglugluglu 😂🤣😂
The hawk with only one eye he still beats anyone that even sugar Ray Leonard did not wanted to fight him. RIP Aarron Pryor .
