“Would everyone please stand and remove your hats and have a moment of silence for the brush scuttle “ 😂Great video Mark as always- a little bit of clear epoxy and it will be fine - Have a great day 👍
HaHa! Yeah...it'll be okay. Again, I have one in reserve just in case.:)
Nice one Mark. What can ya do - Chip happens. Ended well. Glad you enjoyed Cold Spices!
This channel is nice to shave to. I like to play it in the bathroom while i use my safety razor. I gotta get a new brush.
oh ouch!!!🤕I am so sorry you chipped your brush scuttle! First rate repair, Mark!!! Hope the rest of the day is better. I used to watch my father and both my brothers shave with the Shultan Old Spice shave products and aftershave, so this video brings back a lot of memories for me. Cold Spices + Cold Shave = Win Win. Rock On, Mark, Rock On!!
Hi Mark- Great shave; thank you! Sorry about the brush scuttle, but you were very fast in being able to fix the chipped area. I hope the repair holds up well for you. Enjoy the rest of your week. Be safe and be well. All the best, Mark!
Another great video Mark, love the back round music with the video it goes very good with the shave! Mark you should add a light touch of music to all your videos it just so relaxing while watching.
Glenn, thanks.:) I agree. I need to do this more often.:)
The music is a nice touch.
Another great video Mark. I felt your pain about the chipped scuttle. I’m glad you didn’t give up on it. Now that it has a battle scar, I bet it will remain in your shaving den as an integral part of you shaving experience. I am waiting to take delivery on my first shipment of PAA products. I ordered Immortal Peach CK6 soap and the corresponding aftershave cologne. I also have a bunch of samples coming - Cold Spices is one of them. Keep the great vids coming good sir.
Hi, BryBry57. It was so unexpected. I still don't know what I did wrong. But, yes, I glued it in and then coated some glue over it. So, it'll stay in place. I may sand down the excess glue...then again, I may leave well enough alone. :) Enjoy the Immortal Peach and thanks for the kind words.
Great shave Mark. I have Cold Spices and love the scent as does my wife. I switched to an all cold shave about 2 months ago and get less irritation and more comfortable shave. Sorry about the shave scuttle but it looks like it will make a usable recovery. Take care and stay cool.
Great video and great recovery. It was hard to watch the scuttle chip. I can imagine the disappointment. You switched courses well
Thanks, Bowtie RN. Ah, it happens. I sorta knew that one day it would occur which is why I purchased a backup brush cuttle. But this one is fine and the chi does not affect performance. Yeah, it has this battle scar, but I'm getting used to it. 🙂
Too bad about the chip but those things happen. Cold Spice is awesome. Have a great day.
Nice job Man great shave Master specialist shaving. Boom Lather!
Ciao Mark, questo sapone è consigliato per l'estate? sembra davvero fantastico!👍🤗
Ooops. I've broken a lot of mugs, bowls, etc. Now it's all metal, resin, plastic, and my favorite mugs for old school pucks are the green rubber mugs from Marvy.
Great video Mark.
Roderick, if PAA ever offers this brush scuttle in metal, I am soooo buying that! 🙂👍
@@MarkSzorady So something like a stainless travel mug with an insert?
Hmmmmmm. Douglas Smythe, are you paying attention????
@@RoderickGMacLeod 👍
Very enjoyable shave Mark - I'm a big fan of the Cold Spices soap. As you say they have got the scent just right. I think everyone remembers their dad using the Shulton Old Spice at some point and it's very nostalgic to smell it again. Stirling also did an excellent version too, called "Stirling Spice" but it seems to be unavailable at the moment. I winced when you chipped your scuttle - it happens to the best of us!
I have a question, Mark. Why should I rinse my face with warm (or hot) water first, then cold? Does the warm water do a better job cleaning all the lather off?
Ceramic Bowl Repair - that can be a topic for a separate video. Do you have another chipped ceramic bowl?
I started with a cheap coffee mug.. it broke. I now shave with a Captain's Choice Copper bowl..love the patina.. Same material made out of the Statue of Liberty..
Dang, that was unfortunate, Mark...I always worry about that happening with my Dreamscape scuttle from PAA. So far all is well. Can't beat Cold Spices...that was one of the first I bought from PAA. Very close to the Shulton formula, but I like it much better...and with the menthol, too.
Great shave! One gets attached with our shaving gear. I still remember when I was shaking my Muhle badger brush with an acrylic frosted translucent handle and dropped it. The handle cracked but did not break. Still use it but every time I grab it and look at the damage it is no fun , specially because I have not been able to replace it.
SN, Ouch. Good know that the brush is still serving you well, though.
Great shave. Im one that uses and loves cold spice a lot. Sorry about yourk skuttle though. nice to see you using cold spice. Have a no great week
Im planing too bay one razorrok old tipe, looking you, its look like a wery nice razor would you recomended one of this razor, a have a sentisen skin,
Hey Mark! Sorry about the scuttle getting chipped. However, I am glad you finally did a cold water shave without using a hot water rinse. Have a great week.
What would you say the difference is between Cold Spices and the other PAA Old Spice tribute Oud Spice? Thanks
Great shave Mark!! Besides the touch of menthol, how would you compare Cold Spices to Oud Spice? I love everything affiliated with Old Spice. It was my grandfather's scent and now that he is no longer around, I grab everything that resembles it. Is Cold Spices just Oud Spice with the menthol or is there a noticeable difference?
Great Shave, Great Video. I’m sure you were disappointed when you chipped the brush scuttle but when you use it now you’ll have that memory that’s adds to the character of it. Also with the amount of products you’ve ordered from PAA and the amount of customers they’ve gotten through you, I’m sure a backup of a backup should be sent to you F.O.C
I just realized that I have a sample of Cold Spices aftershave that I ordered months ago, along with about 10 other samples, none of which I've used yet.
I'm excited to try it, though, as I'm not a fan of the modern Old Spice scent but I'm curious how Cold Spices compares.
Brian, let us know how you like it. Neat that you have it. 🙂
A chipped ceramic scuttle or bowl is better than a cut or sliced finger from a bade.
it is for this reason i dont use ceramic bowls anyore, stainless steel bowls work great for me without the worry of breaking it.
Well, here's hoping for a SS brush scuttle.:)
Cold Spices was one of the first sets I bought from PAA. I always loved Old Spice and I wish I'd saved some of the old ceramic bottles full of it, but who'da know P&G would acquire and ruin it. I like Cold Spices but I wish they made it without menthol because it's a bit much for me. As for the Scuttle I haven't used mine in quite awhile, as I got tired of having an extra item to mess with in the morning.
Chris, Cold Sices is defintely one I'll be buying again. Agree with the vintsge Old Spie bottles...wih I had a few myself for this nice homage. the brush scuttle is probably the easiest thing to clean in the shave den. A quick rinse and dry. Easy.:)
Nice enthusiastic review. I'm curious to know how PAA Cold Spices compares to PAA Oud Spice and Stirling Spice soaps? I have the current Old Spice aftershave but not the original. My Dad used the original almost exclusively and from what I remember the current Old Spice version is very reminiscent. Too bad you chipped the brush scuttle. I've done worse with my ceramic brush mug. That's why I love my copper Captain's Choice lather bowl. Oh yeah...I'm enjoying my cold water shaves too. Especially, now that the Georgia temps are in the mid-90s.
Bart, I have not tried the Stirling spice soaps, so cannot compare. Compared to Oud Spice, Cold Spices is more authentic for sure. Oud Spice has that twist to it...only way I can describe it at the moment. I need to do another shave with Oud Spice. OI recommend that you grab Oud Spice the next time it drops.
@@MarkSzorady I have both Oud Spice and Stirling Spice. To my nose, Stirling Spice is close enough to Old Spice that I couldn't pass a blind test comparing the two. Oud Spice has a hint of Old Spice but is not nearly as close as Stirling Spice.
You might say ”Chip off the old scuttle”
🙂👍
Hey Mark…..If you don’t want that brush scuttle any more because it got chipped I would love to have it and I am willing to pay for it as well. Let me know if your interested. Thanks.
Anthony, I'll probably be keeping it and showing it to viewers here and there. I'm interested in seeing how the repair holds. But, if I have a change of mind, I'll let you know.🙂
I wish they made a bush scuttle with the same material as the travel scuttle, I don't like anything crematic by my sink!
THAT is a fantastic idea! in fact, I think I may have mentioned (in passing) that you probably use the travel scuttle as a brush scuttle.
@@MarkSzorady I've seen you mention that on the mmm, because I face lather I like the idea of the brush scuttle more, I doubt I will ever own one because I can't find the brush scuttles for sale in the UK and the shipping from the US would be way too much for me
@@sorrows_touch There's got to be a local artisan making a brush scuttle in your area. Similar can be found on Ebay/Etsy.
Your on camera restraint was impressive. If I had chipped anything, I would have dropped multiple F bombs. The history of the origional Shulton is interesting. According to what I've read, it started out a a woman's fragrance. The Dollar General used to carry a knock off splash made in India that was identical to the origional.
Patrick, I was more disappointed in my carelessness more than anything. But, yes, it became a great opportunity for a cold shave. 🙂 I was unaware of this Old Spice history or that Dollar Tree offered a knock-off. Thanks for this. Interesting. 👍
@@MarkSzorady it was Dollar General not Dollar Tree and I think they no longer carry it.
@@pjwroblewski Whoops. My apologies. I've got Dollar Tree on the mind. Dollar General. It'd be great if it ever came back.
The chip gives your scuttle its own personality..
🙂👍
Mark your a marketing machine for PAA.
Kurt, I really like their products. Prior to being introduced to PAA, folks said I had a similar affinity to Vikings Blade. I love their stuff too. I love Stirling, as well. Supply is the new kid on the block and I love their razors and gear. Really love their injector razors. 🙂 I've had their marble shaving bowl forever. I simply like the process and admire all these great companies that produce this wonderful gear. But, yes, I am partial to CK6, no doubt. 🙂
@@MarkSzorady You can tell. Your still in the honey moon phase. Get outside and enjoy nature. Get a little sun
Bit of a drama queen about a chip, like you said it happens lol
It took me by surprise. I didn't see it coming. Still trying to figure out how it happened. I'm usually very good about handling this ceramic scuttle.
Just wait for OUD Spice if you don't want menthol. Nice shave!
Jeff, good point.
Have you used OUD spice? Thought I've seen videos of you using OUD spice.
@@jeffdurheim9153 I have and I love it It's somewhat the Unobtanium of shave soaps. Douglas drops it every once in a blue moon. If you haven't tried it, the next time it goes on sale, grab it. 🙂
