I liked Smile 2 to an extent and thought Naomi Scott did a great performance but however the plot gets ridiculous with how half of the movie is in her head and nothing she experienced was Real. That wasn't the case with the first Smile. I also think the character was less sympathetic than Rose in Smile because she technically killed her boyfriend. I also noticed that they didn't include the bit with Naomi Scotts character that if she killed someone she could escape the Demon and the reason for that is because i could see her doing the Murder unlike Rose in Smile who had more of a moral compass. Smile 2 ending was also stupid and predictable as hell.
I'll always laugh at how AWFUL movies like Smile and Smile 2 somehow get critically praised while actual decent horror films like Hills Have Eyes and Wrong Turn get trashed!
The original Hills have Eyes did get good reviews the remake didn't. While I liked the remake I can see why some Critics wouldn't it's essentially the same as the OG just modernized and less development of the mutants themselves. In the remake they are just genaric monsters. With Wrong Turn I wouldn't call that movie decent it's alright I do like it but it's also very genaric. The reason Critics prefer films like Smile 2 over something like Wrong 2 is because it's harder to craft movies with legit suspense and atmosphere then it is to just make a genaric slasher with blood and guts. It's the same reason Critics liked the first original Halloween but not so much the original Friday the 13th because it's harder and more artistic to create a suspenseful atmosphere that relies on mood and tone and not just thrills. Friday the 13th is my favorite slasher and horror series but I can understand why critics don't like them.
@@boomstickcritique902I haven’t seen the hills have eyes original all the way. I got to about half way when I was 14 or something and never finished. I remember the movie being fine
I liked this one I agree the story is a repeat of the first but I got on board because to me this was a more fun more entertaining version of the first. At the same time I can't see this concept going more then 3 or 4 movies at most. When it comes to the next sequel they have no choice but to do something different for the ending they can't have yet another it's an illusion ending 3 times of that is way to much.
I really liked the original smile. I haven’t seen the sequel yet because I’m scared I’ll hate it and we know the track record with sequels and the fact that movies are hilariously bad now but good work here Matt! I always like watching your reviews; very real and no punches pulled with amazing humor😄
My Ranking Of My Favorites & Bests Of 2024 That I Loved: 13. Spaceman, 12. In The Land Of Saints & Sinners, 11. Arcadian, 10. The Fall Guy, 9. Deadpool 3, 8. Knox Goes Away, 7. Land Of Bad, 6. Killer’s Game, 5. Gladiator 2, 4. Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare, 3. The Bricklayer, 2. Bad Boys 4, & 1. The Beekeeper
The first film was overrated trash so I didn’t bother with this The first film was just a lazy rip of The Ring and It Follows which were much better Hell even The Invisible Man 2020 which is a remake is more original than that crap and that’s actually a good movie
I don't get all the hype for Smile 2 either. I thought it was laughably stupid. People were praising the acting particularly the lead but I thought she was so over the top at times especially the car scene which looks like a PS3 game. Agreed the opening was the most interesting aspect of the film so of coarse they don't go that direction. They also introduce another possibly intriguing avenue in the third act but once again they don't follow through on it and the ending becomes extremely predictable. These Smile flicks are overrated af!
I'm glad I didn't watch the film all the way through. I would have died of boredom. And if that was the last thing I'd see, then how sad would that have been. Whole thing is an advert for mind control/MK-Ultra/butterfly and one-eye symbolism bullcrap.
That was one of my issues with this film, they just got rid of Kyle Gallner! A missed opportunity to do something different & great! However I didn’t mind either of the smile movies I liked them both
I like the movie but my problem is that something happens in the ending scene that was too strange and weird looking for me I won’t spoil for those who haven’t scene but anyone who has seen knows what I’m talking about
SPOILER for the movie In the scene where the main character got in the car with her “friend”, it was supposed to be a surprise BUT I thought that was not actually her friend since she insisted on getting inside the car with the main character. My guess was correct
Awesome Job Matt, I’ll Skip this 1 Cause I thought The 1st Smile was a Shitty Overrated Film, Full Of Jump Scares, Poorly Written Dumbass Characters, I’ll Definitely skip Nosferatu Too Cause That looked like Dogshit also from this year too
This movie also sucked, lol. Keep up the great work, Matt!
Thank you! I hope you are well, too.
I thought Smile 2 was 90% lazy close-up shots which then shoved you into a jumpscare.

If you’re talking about the OG hills have eyes then I like Smile 2 more
Because Critics couldn’t tell their ass from their elbow.

@@boomstickcritique902I want to doing a ranking of Wes craven movies to send Matt so I’ll watch the hills have eyes soon
Okay, I am just going to say it - I actually liked the movie. But I understand if you didn't.
I didn't mind this but that ending was so predictable, people already knew what would happen when the trailer dropped.
I didn’t expect it because I didn’t watch the trailer. I’m glad I took Cody Leach’s advice and not watch trailers

Jack Nicholson was her boyfriend her acting kept me engaged.
I love the film.

Smile trope played itself out

I actually rather enjoyed this movie.
Matt thank for the review and I not a fan of this movie as well 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍👍
Terrifier 3 has loads of gore

NOSFERATU is probably better than the wizard of oz
Same with smile 2
