    Um just a thought, but why dont you leave complete lower part of original a8 trunk lid with lights and weld it to ur6 trunk lid somewhere under windshield? Also you should not have cut completly c pillars, at least should have left skin around door frame whole. Subbed nice project, my dream car d2 avant! Way to go

      Certainly I could braze the D2 aluminum trunk to the steel C4 hatch but there is absolutely no reason to except for the central latch and lights..... Hey maybe something to consider! Hahaha. I don't mind the URS6 lights being 1/4" taller than the outer A8L lights, close enough for me.
      As far as the D2 C pillar I ABSOLUTELY had to remove it in order to even fit this hatch in place, there was no way around that as you can clearly see in my first DA ALU FE (DA ALI G) show introduction video with it raised up so very high in the air.
      As far as structural support I did leave both thick square tubular heavy duty beams in place just behind the rear doors. They will provide for far more rigidity and they soon will have aluminum plates welded in place with which the steel hatch can be bolted semi permanently.
      In addition I will have a 1 3/4" round tube steel roll bar in the trunk to futher provide for torsional rigidity and extra security in case of a rollover.
