I’m a goalkeeper, and the amount of times I’ve pulled off amazing saves and saved my team from loosing no one really recognises, but I remember I made one bad mistake which lead to a goal and everyone seems to remember it. Goalkeepers mistakes are magnified because they’re the last line of defence and if you make a mistake it often leads to a goal. If a player makes a mistake outfield chances are the other outfield players will rectify it or the goalkeeper will save it, which from experience has happened a lot. But no one is there to save the goalkeeper.
The Special British lad I’ve been a goalie for a number of school times and been outfield players on some (sometimes same school) and trust me the goalie had it hella easy
That is, easy compared to the rest of the team, they didn’t participate in most the running drills, cardio, etc. and did goalie drills which were hard but a bit easier and less closer to physical torture than the training for the rest of the team
