- The earth connection first of all provides a safety function in relation to the risk of electrocution in the event of an insulation fault. For the earth connection to perform this function properly, the metal casings of electrical devices must be connected to earth (except if they are class II, i.e. double insulated).
It also makes it possible to neutralize the electric fields that can radiate from the metal structures of the building, the carcasses of electrical devices and machines or even certain lighting fixtures. A little known but very real pollution, especially with devices with which we spend a lot of time such as computers.
On old electrical installations, the earth connection is sometimes nonexistent. It is essential to remedy this.
The essential criteria for achieving a good earth connection are a sufficiently low resistance and a location free from electrical disturbances.
According to standard NF C15-100, the resistance (see box) of the earth electrode must be at most equal to 100 ohms. These standards are established to ensure safety against the risk of electrocution.
But to neutralize electric fields and stray voltages, what must this resistance be? It must be low enough to limit the electrical voltage on the metal frames of machines and electrical devices and on all metal structures which are connected to the earth.
In the video, I point out that having an earth stake in dry soil greatly reduces conductivity.

Bonjour, ça veut dire qu'on doit arroser fréquemment au pied du piquet?
si la terre est sèche et pas d'eau depuis un long moment il faut mettre de l'eau pour retrouver une conductivité
@@leaulavie d'accord, merci beaucoup
Sur ton catu on voit que la phase et le neutre sont inversés
Bonsoir. tout à fait j'étais tellement plongé sur la terre que je n'avais pas relevé cela dans le montage. merci
