  • After getting disappointing accuracy in the first video I went back out and set the target at 10 feet. Accuracy was similar to that first video and that is shown at the start of this one. After I had filmed it I decided to do some plinking with the 32 ACP ammo double action and a weird thing happened: accuracy improved. I'm at a bit of a loss to explain it but the gun shoots more accurately - with the same ammunition - in double action than single action.
I also noticed that the front sight appears to be slightly canted to the left. If that was leading to the gun shooting to the left in single action then it should have continued to lead to it shooting to the left in double action....but it didn't.

I'm a big 327 fed fan and here in central AZ I checked every shop and found only a couple of boxes of 32 long wad cutters at one shop, a few boxes of 85 gr hydro shock in 327 and a big stack of 3 H&R mag 85 gr hp.

That is why I like the ability to shoot 32 ACP--much easier and cheaper to acquire ammo. You can find 327 and 32 Long at Lucky Gunner. With shipping you're looking at about 80 cents to $1.50 per round. www.luckygunner.com/handgun/327-magnum-ammo

Thanks for making such a an indepth video on the Professional's accuracy. It is a revolver that deserves more content. Both to show of the potential of the design, and to put a bit of pressure on CA to iron out the bugs. I have two (a SS model, and a Black Nitride model) and I have had similar results, but I am not the best shot so I wasnt sure if it was me or the firearm. It's nice to finally see someone else actually capture what I have been experiencing on camera.

The lack of video reviews was a secondary factor in my purchasing the revolver--the main was to let ladies shoot it at Women On Target. I have a Pitbull in 9mm that I've reviewed, another Charter that doesn't have a lot of view reviews. Charter makes a 380 Pitbull but they called me to tell me "no" when I emailed to ask them about making a 32 ACP. Sucks that they won't make it but they could have just ignored my email like S&W, Ruger, and Henry.

@@ronquixote1739 I have the Charter .380 as well, I use it as a .32 h&r magnum practice alternative as the recoil is so similar between the two calibers, the frame is nearly identical (only the front blade is different), but .380 is 1/3 or so the cost and readily available off the shelf, while .32 h&r is practically online only.
I also think a .32 acp revolver would be great, but I would prefer if it had a frame and cylinder sized to it, instead of sharing one meant for a longer bullet like the .32 h&r.

@@nunyobuisniz713 It is easier to see Charter or another manufacturer making a 32 caliber cylinder specialized to 32 ACP (supportive of tapered 32 ACP case, move case back to ensure reliable primer ignition, possibly begin rifling in the cylinder) than to see them make an entirely new frame.

It's a fixed sight revolver. Every ammo is going to hit at a different poi.

I had to send the revolver back and got a replacement that does much better. I was expecting there to be a lot of variation in where the different loads hit as I've seen that with 38 special vs 357 in other revolvers but it wasn't a huge difference in the different 32 ammo types I had available. Here's the video on the replacement Charter: ua-cam.com/video/KFZhqEKjs4I/v-deo.html

I do better firing double cation, I think it's because ny concentration is on maintaining sight alignment and smooth trigger pull but that's just a thought.

That is good double action is more acturate in life or death that's the way you would be using it.

True enough that you'd use double action if attacked but a gun shouldn't be less accurate in single action. I had to send that gun back and got a replacement pistol as the grips were falling off and the cylinder sometimes went slightly out of the right side of the frame when pushed into the closed position. You can see that review here: ua-cam.com/video/KFZhqEKjs4I/v-deo.html

It’s not unusual to have light primer strides with 32 amp ammo in a 32 H&R and that is because the 32 amp is a almost rimless cartridge where 32 H&R is a rimmed cartridge so the app goes into cylinder to far giving light hammer strikes nothing wrong with the Charter Arm, I have several 32 revolvers and are S&W andRugers and same thing happens

    • @ronquixote1739

The case diameter is the same at the base but the rim thickness is different--with the 32 ACP having a thinner rim. That is why there can be light primer strikes. The revolver in that video had several issues unrelated to 32 ACP and was returned to Charter. I posted a video on the replacement which works much better all the way around. ua-cam.com/video/KFZhqEKjs4I/v-deo.html&pp=ygUscm9uIHF1aXhvdGUgY2hhcnRlciBwcm9mZXNzaW9uYWwgcmVwbGFjZW1lbnQ%3D

You are changing the position of your finger on the trigger between double-action and single-action. Put it in the same position as double-action for single-action work and your accuracy should improve.

Shortly after I posted this I had to send the revolver back. The cylinder pushed through the frame when closing it and the grips were falling off. I did a review of the new - and much better - replacement I received that you can see here: ua-cam.com/video/KFZhqEKjs4I/v-deo.html

It seems like the gun is really calibrated for the 85 grain HR magnum. I have this in the aluminum frame, and the heavier bullets of the 32 long (98 to 100 grains) tend to not be as tight as the 85 grain loads be they target or defensive. As for the sight, I have an old Charter arms undercover from 1971 that looks the same...I wonder if it's part of the design that just makes it look slightly off?

Many guns have a type of ammo that groups better than other but in this particular case the revolver was having issues. Check out my Charter Arms Replacement video--the new gun groups better all the way around. ua-cam.com/video/KFZhqEKjs4I/v-deo.html
