I feel like the title of this game is seriously hurting its market appeal. It sounds like a flash game, and like the third of several very similar flash games no less. "Spark the Electric Jester 3" is just not going to catch the attention of people who might otherwise have looked into this game if it was just called "Jester" or something like that
Agree. That and the character design is nothing beyond DeviantART tier fan characters and such. The designs of most characters (ESPECIALLY colour theme) is so off it repulses me. No colour theory being used, just BLOCK VIVID Yellow, Red, Sky Blue, and Brown. Urgh. And that's just Spark.
I think the biggest issue this game is going to suffer from is it picking up fame on the third release, makes you think "well how come I never heard of STEJ 1 or 2?". Otherwise, the appearance of the game is alright IMO. Sonic isn't much more detailed, aside from shadowing or whatever. I very much prefer Spark's
True, there's also the fact that, playing the actual game, the story is very reliant on the events of the two previous games. It tries to recap everything and does it somewhat decently but it's still a very "Kingdom Hearts" situation.
Maybe it's because I was used to how Lake designed boss patterns in Spark 2, but I honestly had no idea you were meant to lose this fight. Unfortunately this boss HAS to be fought every level attempt, so retrying for medals can get annoying.
Yeah I have some conflicting opinions on Spark 3. At the same time I like the movement and the levels have some good length too them unlike spark2, I just feel like the combat is not emphasized. Unless we are talking like those 3 side levels or some specific sections on the final area. The bosses truly make the combat shine way more, but it is in fact hard to balance speed focused platforming and Gated combat (sonic heroes Am I Wright?!). And not to be annoying but people mostly use "hack and slash" for this type of games.
hack and slash is actually less specific. When you say "character action" you basically mean "like Devil May Cry". Hack and Slash can be a lot wider variety, like Dynasty Warriors for instance.
Personally, I've felt like the term "hack and slash" has been falling out of use, but the few times I do hear it it's usually in reference to games with simpler combat systems.

@@froggouk2 yeah lol the design is garbage, great gameplay can only take you so far

@@froggouk2 ... I really like the character designs though

You can't just jump off the edge or something?
The medal requirements are on the menu, you can just restart the level if you don't meet them
I didn't play 1 and 2, but this game managed to get my interest with the demo, where the first level is basically a big Initial D reference.
Mr Snakeman, you have sold it to me. As soon as that next paycheck hits, I know what I'm playing.
Okay so it took a bit longer, but I finally hit credits a couple days ago.
Hoooooly shit that went places
God I need to get this game, I've been sold since beating the first two and the demo for 3 just further cemented how much I need it
Helix snake casually just no damaging him 😱
Holy frijole this is cool as hell

Generally if you're doing a lot of air juggling in the combat it's probably a character action game.

Wait, you were supposed to lose this fight? I did it first try.
u mean a spectacle fighter?
Yahtzee coined that term and I do side with him. It sounds better and more precise.
@@Dice12K yes but the former super best friends call it character action so
Capcom called DMC5 "character action", so we're stuck with it now
The more I see about STEJ the more I feel like this is Sonichu, but done by someone who isnt CWC
