Gabe, I’m SO happy that you’re back in the Himalayas! That pic of you at 27:11 is totally epic!! I’ve been a subscriber and followed your travels for a few years now, and I love all your adventures. But I confess: the trek you did in the Himalayas Langtang National Park in December 2019 is my all time favorite travel adventure. Can’t explain why, but there’s just something very special about this part of the world. Thank you for taking your amazing channel back there again.
The clouds coming and going just adds to the atmosphere up there. I remember sleeping in a cave on that ridge somewhere in the mid 90s, magical times of my youth 🙂
Oh that was a beautiful hike Gabriel. Gorgeous glimpses of the Himalaya mountains, could really still get a sense of how majestic they are as they peak out of the clouds. What a great cameraman you are! Wine well deserved!🍷Food looked amazing too.❤
You were so lucky to see a himalayan bear Gabe, just as well it was a good distance away as the moms are the most dangerous when they have cubs. I stayed at the tibetan colony of bier 20 miles away last time i was there & there were leapards around that came into village at night to eat the dogs, thought i was stalked by one walking up to bier from the main road when I arrived on the bus from manali as it got dark, heard it growl in the bushes a few yards away & it was no dog for sure. Sang loudly & banged my stick on the road for the rest of the way up the hill. I could see the lights if mcloud ganj in the distance at night from bier too.
@@AlwaysAwesome001 I heard of a guy my freind knew who was walking betwwen the kulu & parvati valleys who disturbed on with cubs & she chased him a mile or so down the mountain, he nearly ran off a cliff at one point during the chase. Scalping injuries were common in the past when people curled up to protect themselves from attack, many died in those days before modern treatment from it.
McLeod Ganj is the kind of place I would love to visit. There is so much to see and do. A couple of months would be great to just take in everything. I love the busy streets, the sounds, the shops and restaurants and the people. Only in India you will get that exciting vibe. I understand from watching your India travels, why you love India so much and keep returning. It looks so amazing to visit!! Aloha!!
It’s funny how after watching the whole video, I can only think about jeera rise and paneer butter masala! My all time favorite Indian dish. I usually add some raita and drink masala chai with it. Hope it tasted good with red wine, you really needed a big meal after that day. Stay safe🙏🏻
I trekked up to Triund back in ‘99 one of the most amazing walks for me, being confronted with the first big rock wall of the Himalayas gave me an awesome sense of scale. I remember getting very sunburnt from the receding sun on the walk back down. Magical place!
Hi Gabriel, it was an amazing trek going up the mountainside with some spectacular views coming back you look exhausted go to get a meal and a glass of wine. I'm sure you'll get a good night's sleep, no jet lag, here with that climb. A lot of meals must use turmeric in the cooking healthy eating another reason to visit India is the food much of it is plant-based. You'll be sore in the morning to do it all again those legs have high mileage on them, but the traveling never gets tiring.
This video had everything Gabe! Humour, tiredness, disappointment, happiness, surprise, unexpected turns, and relaxation. Great stuff! OK now I am hungry! ;)

Funny how some of us are drawn to certain countries. I remember your hike in the freezing cold. Being served ginger honey and lemon most mornings. it was really tough back then. So it is good to go back when there is not so much snow and freezing conditions. Its a very spiritual place. Take care and thank you for sharing:)

Hi Gabriel, you need to start early morning to get a clear view of the Himalayas. Clouds generally come during the afternoon. Good to see you in India again! Wish you all the best✌
What a fantastic hike! Wow, the views there are unbeatable! It must be fun to return there, after 9 years. You looked exhausted sitting there at dinner, Gabe! That's when the fatigue usually hits, when you finally sit down to rest after a long hike. The food looked amazing and delicious! Really good for only $12, including wine. You'd be lucky to even get one course of Indian food here in SoCal for that. A full Indian meal like you got is at least $30 or more at a nice restaurant (with wine way more). Looking forward to more adventures!
Shangri La you passed is actually the best restaurant for Tibetan food Best tupka and momos, , all the monks go there, and no tourist prices.I highly recommend💖
Great hike. I think you need to visit Himalayas in late summer (April and May) to get cloud less view of peaks. in 2014, you did trekking in May. Himachal similar to Sikkim last time, hid behind clouds
Hi Gabriel, I was there in McLeod Gunj at the exact time you were doing your travel! One thing: You should have hiked another hour from Triund to Ilaka, the base of Dhauladar range glacier. You could have sled down the snow and drink some awesome delicious real ice water!
It is about 3 hours trek from McLeod to Triund via Dharamkot. Another 40 min to glacier from Triund. It is always better to trek in the morning in the mountains as cloud and fog gather after 12 noon.
Gabe, simply stunning video. What a beautiful part of the world. Enjoy your travels and thanks as always for sharing . Oh and have fun celebrating Halloween in India!
Thank goodness for the sturdy fence at the first overlook that is in place to protect you from falling 🤣🤣🤣. It’s barely standing itself. Great vid as always brother. 💙/☮️
Hi Gabe: Amazing trek up to Triund. You got lucky towards the end when the skies cleared up a bit. There are always dogs around these mountain trails. These dogs are friendly and hey are used to people trekking and walk with them part of the way. The trekkers usually feed them biscuits or some other food. So, it's a win-win. By the way, places that end in "kot" are pronounced to rhyme with "boat". "Kot" means a fort. You have big cities in India like Pathankot, Rajkot etc.
Dear Gabriel - HH Dalai Lama might be in McLeodganj right now and it would be good to see if you could meet him (if you be interested). Earlier I had seen he was traveling to the South in Karnataka...so not sure...just a thought. And also, some lovely cafes in McL...I love the Tibetan Tea House...
Spent many a night up in Triund. We used to go up there and take acid and look at the stars & the mountains. One time we went up someone had brought a benoffie pie they had made, and they had loaded it with hash, so much so it tasted disgusting, so we left it with our bags whilst we went for a walk around, when we came back about an hour or two later, the crows had gotten into it, and had eaten almost the whole thing. They were all walking around wobbly, they couldn't fly, it was very funny...."Stone the crows" I thought.
