1985 CCC • E-Z Pack Manual Side Loader Tackling Yard Waste

- It was unusual to see a single axle EDCO truck running an Escondido city route, as these older trucks normally did county work in the outskirts of town in the final years of their lives. Pedro's normal truck at the time was #64, a 2007 Autocar WXLL • CWS manual side loader. The E-Z Pack here used to be an EDI truck before it was repainted sometime in the early 2000s into EDCO colors (EDCO has owned EDI forever). Enjoy seeing this spare truck from 1985 chewing up yard waste on the Thursday route before everything was made automated. Filmed in 2011, this truck was scrapped in 2015 when the last routes in the area were automated.

This might just be me, but in my opinion this is the right way to do green waste collection.. Awesome truck! Stellar video!
I’m only disagreeing with you because if someone throws away a lot of dirt. That’s gonna be a pain in your back. Hence why you should do manual recycle
Fantastic video! Throwback with every home in the Socal hills having Rotos and manual bins for yard waste. 1985 is definitely one of the older trucks we've seen on UA-cam. Glad you saved this footage to upload in 2024!
Man that driver was fast. Love that crazy rev too! Can't wait to see what else you have archived
Great video 🎉🎉
We got a manual side loader! We got a manual side loader garbage truck EDCO WASTE lives on! Woo-hoo! Unbelievable!
Nice video!
Wow!! What an absolute throwback! Super awesome to see an old classic truck like this one! Too bad it's long gone, but at least you got the chance to film it when it was running around! I thoroughly enjoyed this one, listened all the way through! That engine sound is amazing! Not your typical growl of an L10 Cummins, but you get those super high RPM's while packing which just adds a whole new level of awesome! What engine was in this one? I know some of them had the L10 Cummins, but this one sounds more like a Cat rather than a Cummins, especially when those high revs kicked in! Hopefully you have some more classics to share with us in the future!
Hey Sean, it's a Cummins 8.3, which later became the ISC. Thank you for the comment!
@@Trashman242 Wow! I didn't know they had 8.3 Cummins engines in 1985! Good to know! I just posted a comment on that private video of the Green City Mack MR rolloff, that video is an epic one and I love it!
Too good of a truck to go to scrap. Surprised he took the black bags. We aren't supposed to take it in plastic bags only paper bags, cans, or toters.
maybe they opened them at the mrf
Thank the tree huggers running Cali. Every old truck there has been scrapped
