The Golden Eagle nest camera is situated near military training ground. Therefore military training noise is possible to hear quite often.
The purpose of this camera is to detect the reaction of breeding eagles to the noise disturbance heard.
We invite volunteers to participate in virtual Golden Eagle observations and record them in the appropriate forum (link above). The forum has instructions on how to become a member of the forum and how to post your observations there. This is also possible with pictures or videos proving the event. At the end of the season, we summarize all observations and analyze to what extent the particular Golden Eagle pair is affected by noise disturbances in the breeding area. If necessary, it is also possible to review the recorded video material. Expenses of this webcam are covered by Centre for Defence Investments of Estonian Republic.
There in the same nest was one chick fledged in 2023 and 2022.
Adults are currently without of rings. Male and female look out quite similar, but female is a bit bigger.

Kaljukotka pesakaamera asub kaitseväe harjutusvälja ääres ning seetõttu on seal sageli kuulda harjutustega seotud müra. Selle kaamera eesmärk on tuvastada, kas ja kuidas reageerivad kaljukotkad harjutusväljalt kostuvale mürahäiringule.
Kutsume vabatahtlikke üles osalema kaljukotka virtuaalvaatlustel ja nende salvestamisel vastavas foorumis. Foorumis on juhised liitumise kohta ning selgitused, kuidas oma vaatlusi postitada. Postitusele on võimalik lisada sündmust tõendavad fotod või videod. Hooaja lõpus teeme vaatlustest kokkuvõtte ja analüüsime, kuivõrd mõjutavad mürahäiringud kaljukotkast pesitsuspiirkonnas. Salvestatud videomaterjali on vajadusel võimalik üle vaadata. Kaljukotka pesakaamera paigaldamise ja hoolduse eest tasub Riigi Kaitseinvesteeringute Keskus.
Sellest pesast lennuvõimestus poeg nii 2022. kui ka 2023. aastal. Mõlemad vanalinnud on ilma rõngasteta ja ka muidu sarnased. Emalind on natuke suurem."

it was a long struggle for the little one to survive. I have been keeping up with the nest. she put up the defense as much as she could. I am surprised to see that she/he still can be killed with bigger body today. I am so, so sad to see him/her go, .

Just because the one who was killed by the other didn’t deserve to die just because the other was starving well so was the one who was killed by sibling too hungry. This seems to be and along with other foreign live bird cams where siblings kill each other or the parent kills to survive and it is truly so very sad. I do recall only a few sibling here’s in the USA to to kill their younger and much seller siblings because of dominance or cause the younger one is sicker or much smaller then the other sibling. I don’t really think it happens as often as it does in foreign countries. Also, the weather with the very hot waters does have a lot to do with lot of deaths no matter how it happens. I sure do hope that next season that no matter what nest it is thwt all the babies birds of all kinds will be able to survive. God bless those who are hurting and are a loss for words too.
