Why do I like this guy and his reviews? Is it the comprehensiveness? The products? His honesty? His accent? It's all the aforementioned, and I'm subscribing!
I've come across some of your videos about Insta360 gear and like your structured and clear approach. I hope you can get rid of the high pitched whine you sometimes have.
Another wonderful video. I enjoy your thoroughness in your reviews, very nicely done. The latest firmware update and insta360 App on the Apple Watch have saved me some money.
I bought this remote mainly for that GPS feature, but these bad times i had with it, slow connection pairing, and sometimes unable to pair with the ace pro. Then the charge port being different and inconvenient, plus the speedometer number size is so small is hard to see at times, everything adds up, simply not a good product. Now this video convinced me even more its not for me at all, thx for the review, your reviews on these products are the most useful out of all I seen❤
Very informative and comprehensive review. They say it is waterproof but I presume that you can't use the touch screen in the water, just the buttons maybe? I have just ordered an Insta360 Ace Pro 2 and GPS Preview Remote. If you have GPS information recorded to your video, do you know if it is possible to extract the GPS coordinates and display them or create a GPX file with Insta360 Studio or other software?
I purchased 2 I’m very happy with them One for the x4 one for the ace pro made a 3D printed mount that incorporates the charge base for my adventure motorbike
I love that remote, but yes, I agree with your findings. The one thing that you did not talk much about in terms of differences is that the "preview remote" has a live view and for me, that is my primary reason for purchasing it over any other remote that does not have live view. I frame my shots on my bike and on a paddle board using the remote and even depend on the live view for professional video work for clients. I think the startup is faster with my ace pro than it is with my X4 for some reason. I dislike the charging method as well. What I really dislike about the remote is that, although it allows you to connect to a second camera, after connecting to two cameras, it will not allow you to individually control either camera-and it does not provide a live view for either camera. Much like you said, Sony had a live view remote (I still have one) that connects to several cameras, and you can choose which camera you wanted to individually control, and it gave a live view for the chosen camera. So, with the older Sony, you could effectively use the remote to frame your shots on multiple cameras. With the 360 gps live view remote, if using it with more than one camera, its primary function is reduced to starting and stopping recording, but the settings has to have been preset on the camera. As stated, it bugs me that here we are in 2024 and Sony had this capability nearly 8 years ago. What also bugs me is that I would have paid more for the remote if it had this important feature. Thanks for your review.
Great input, thanks. I get your point about the live view when using an Ace/Pro - I guess as an X4 user, it’s just not as useful. Thanks for sharing and for watching.
Thank you for the review, Im not going to get it anymore my 2nd gen remote works fine I was thinking it would be faster when connecting to my x3 and Ace pro
You have a high pitch buzz in your audio on all of your videos (room shots) going back at least 4 months (I've watched just your X4 related videos for now). Could you maybe look into it and try to filter that out for your future videos?
some good points but when you are on live view why would you want auto-sleep being enabled? simply get out of it if you are not using the live view. live view is for watching the recording so what is the point of it going to sleep? if you don't want to use the live view then get out of it and your auto sleep will kick in. pretty straight forward. I think the live preview feature is very important say you mounted your camera on a 3m selfie stick and you like to know what you have in your frame and not just have the record and stop option at a cheaper price range. to me the live preview is a must. However at this price AUD $250 I would have expected them to make it at least like a watch as well similar to Apple Watch but with alarm world clock and a typical clock with different visualizations and theme. Honestly the current price tag for what it is over-priced, considering it does not have USB-C (which is silly) and charging hassle and also the GPS is delayed as per other reviews I have seen the car's digital speedometer shows the accurate speed but the GPS shows a couple of km's less.
Thanks for the review. I am about to buy X4 to pair with my Pocket 3 and judging whether I should get preview or action remote. Assuming it is 360 camera, do I need to preview real time or light/screen indicator on action remote is reliable and sufficient? I can get preview remote for 120 euros brand new, which is 30% off but still double the price to justify vs action remote
GPS chips are so small they could have easily integrated GPS into the camera. This is one of the main reasons I am still using my GoPros 10 and 11 for GPS data to import into Telemetry Overlay software ( I don't have Garmin/Smart Watch).
Thank you, I have the Insta X4 and a remote, but the remote only shows the time and photo information. The camera's display isn't transferring to the remote. Any ideas on how to fix this?
I have noticed that one I click record baton on my Preview remote the recording starts but does not show the option · "pause it ", do you know why?,. The only thing it does is a red icon showing timing and no option of pause it. When I click the record again, it goes to saving to the card .. Any idea? Could you please help me ? Thank you .. I am Fructu from Spain.
Does the Preview touchscreen work with gloves on? While riding a motorcycle, for example. Also, your voice audio levels are too low. I typically run my TV at 10 volume. On this video, I had to turn my TV volume up to 20. Just FYI.
They don't provide 5V, 1.5 amp usb charger with remote and in market this is obsolete. I am not getting this specification charger... now how to charge?
I’m currently shooting 360 vids to add to Google Street View and my current set up is way too fiddly. To get the GPS data that I need in my footage I have to connect my iPhone 15 Pro Max to my X4 and then leave the Insta360 open on my phone. If I close the phone screen the GPS data does not appear in the video data so Google does not accept it. The GPS remote will help solve the above issue and that enables me to use my phone for listening to music, making calls, taking pics etc. If Garmin can fit full GPS into my fenix 7X Sapphire Solar watch I’m sure that Insta360 could add it to their cameras.
I bought the GPS Preview Remote thinking it would record a route the entire time it was turned on, but it only records your track when the video has started, and stops when you stop recording. If you make a video of a 4 hour cycle trip (videoing only the interesting parts) and combine video segments you recorded, only the track of each video shot is show, not he entire trip. Disappointing. I have tried the Garmin app, and it works maybe one in 10 times, don't know why
you should tell us that we must upgrade the remote true the app first...it drove me crazy long time till I did it and only then I can operate the remote...Huhhhh
Im totally agree with you if everything is working properly it is a really good product. But it doesn't have been used on my motorbike ,remote freezes after 20 min, so no gps and remote goes to sleep and my insta X4 still records .lm back on my insta X3,old remote works much better, but the battery doesn't last long.l wish l never bought this product.
Let's talk about the elephant in the room. Why the "F" has insta360 not put gps in all of their cameras from day one like every electric recording device on the planet has? Even the early Sony X3000 line had it as well as cheap 4k knockoff cameras sold on Amazon do. Watches, phones, still cameras, everything. These are action cameras and we do action things with them. Less is better always to mess with or carry. I need telemetry data to overlay on flying videos as does everyone else moving and wants to display this information to others. I don't want to tie into my phone, watch, gps remote for more things to carry and possibly disconnect from. Simplify life and put it in the damn cameras. Everything else about the whole product line I love and will still buy and use. Yes, I bought the gps remote along with two X4's and a Ace Pro, but I would have gladly paid more for each camera if gps was in camera.
@@hamradioop5777 just to be clear I was been a bit facetious because Apple Watch support not fully implemented yet for X4 because Insta360 want you to buy their expensive remote. However, allegedly… it’s coming soon 😊

Yes, the remote also has a watch function, but very basic. Just a simple display of the time in 3 different styles. A nice inclusion but not going to replace a smartwatch

thank you very much! I could learn again a lot of insta 360 devices. Some days ago I bought a insta 360 ace pro and a preview remote.

Lots of your clips have loud hum on the audio track, sounds like interference from power (50hz hum maybe?), it's quite distracting :)
Tinnitus fixes that 😢. It took me a while to hear it.
Definitely a microphone issue really apparent in the overhead shot
Still trying to figure it out (not easy when you can’t hear it yourself!). I already tried swapping the mic, so that’s not the issue.
