You have a point there.............there are many exceptions to this of course ,where the video is great , especially the live ones like Zepp and the Stones and early Genesis. But if you are listening to a band you are trying to get into............ .better to listen to the studio album straight up. JMHO
This is a monumentally fabulous classic! Raises hair on the back of my head to listen to the piano solo in the middle of this song! The best concert I have ever seen was Supertramp when I was 18 years old in 1977 at the 3000 seat Memorial Auditorium in Burlington, Vt. Seating like an opera house. Their visual backdrops were jaw dropping, and the quality of their live music was absolutely perfect! Will always have a soft spot in my heart for Supertramp. This song will give a clue as to why. Can't wait to watch this one!!!
When you’re young, you do what they tell you. You go to school you follow the rules. You do everything right you be a good boy you follow everybody else. And you can feel trapped. That’s what it’s all about and how he wants to break free and do things his own way and go his own way and learn what life‘s aboutso in the end it’s a nice reminder “you’re coming along”
Remember these videos aren’t from the release of the music. We were almost exclusively audio. The album was a continuous conversation, each song relating to the next. We just listened and took from the music what we needed, our imagination fed .
I saw them perform this song live twice way back in the day. It has one of my favorite piano segments ever. When they performed this live they had a giant projection screen drop down from the ceiling behind them on the stage during the quiet interlude that leads up to the piano piece. When the drums started and the piano joined in a closeup of a fast moving train appeared and it was a great visual that blended perfectly with the music.
The whole subject of the video is in the title…”School”. The band is from England, and over there schools are different than they are here. Kids and adults in rural areas, get on trains to go to school and go to work. The roads are narrow and not real safe so most people in the country use trains. There are also a lot of “Private Schools “, or “Boarding Schools”, that people send there kids there for the whole year and only see them if they come home for holiday times.
Pleeeeease do an album reaction! It's totally worth it!!! Either Breakfast in America or crime of the century to start! And then Even in the quietest moments after those two! You'll love it.
For me, their best song. Unfortunately, I did not care for the video. I felt it was badly matched to the song and distracted from it. Nonetheless, I really appreciated you reacting to this song.
@@MugnifyRTS - well it’s difficult to know before you watch it, but you’re a smart guy; if it seems irrelevant it probably is. There are many videos that truly enhance the music too, but again you know when that’s the case.
I know it was mentioned, but videos only came along in the 80's...if you are reacting to a song from the 70's, and there is a video, it's some corny made up one, you need to just critique the song and the music on it's own, thanks
Back in the day THERE WERE NO VIDEOS ACCOMPANYING the music. It's best to listen to purely the music and not get distracted by a video.

Incredible band! Underrated, in my opinion.
Absolutely correct! Supertramp was a monster of a band!

The “ shh” sound is the singer, Rodger Hodgson. This song is a masterpiece

You gonna love this one too 👍
Keep the good work my friend 👍 👌 👏
True classic album

School. Its the first track in a concept album about (to me anyways) bitterness and resentment.
În ce hal de alienare a ajuns lumea,căci pare să fi murit pentru o muzică atât de frumoasă și profundă?! ...
This band gave me something.
Supertramps first album is iconic. I was in HS when this came. My crew and I loved this music. Of course that was 8 track days…
I believe "Indelibly Stamped" was Supertramps first LP
@markstanton2362 Indelibly Stamped was their second album released in 1971. Their debut self titled album was released in 1970.
❤🎉
It kinda does, it’s about School in England from a boys perspective

That's in Germany !
If you'd listened you'd have heard. Crime of the century best album. Rudy best song.
BRITISH RAIL!
Why what the hell this video was shot in Germany? I know Roger Hodgson loves Germany, but...
The video has nothing to do with the song don't get tucked in
The video is a distraction from the music.
Don’t let the video confuse you - it is not meaningful or interesting. Stop focusing on the video.
my bad broski

@@doplinger1 I’ll keep that in mind
Agreed.
I hate these videos that have nothing to do with the song. Videos just take away from the music
Totally in agreement. Unnecessary and distracting. He'd get more out of the experience if it wasn't there.
Agreed. These artists intended their music to be listened to, not watched.
Too many interruptions spoiling the change-ups you say you like so much. glad you liked it though.

Not Amtrack it’s British
Not British but somewhere in a small German town!😅
You should ignore the video.
Your voice is so loud and I can hardly hear the music!
i hate these videos as they split focus.. where it should be 100 on music...
