Deleting pads from a pattern used to be annoying but they improved it a lot in the 1.14 firmware update. You can go to pattern edit, hold down DEL, tap the pads you want to clear, and press the enter button. WAY better now.
Does this delete the entire take in that sequence without having to hold down the pad till it loops around? If that’s the case I am so glad you stepped in to leave this on the comments because that is exactly what I was looking for lol, blessings to you and thank you for dropping by brother
@@malobeats Yeah exactly! You have to be in pattern edit mode, not while recording, but you can clear the pads you choose from the whole pattern without waiting/listening through a whole pass. Thanks for the great vids!
I'm a new SP user, and I've watched a LOT of videos. This is hands down the most useful video on the SP404MkII I've watched. YMMV, of course, but it's not just the explanations of the functions, it's how they work together that is shown in such great detail. Definitely will watch any SP content you share.
Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to watch the video and sharing your feedback this really means a lot, blessings to you and I’m glad this was helpful.
This was needed! As a new buyer of the SP..this video opened up alot and I completed my first beat with this video. I'm off and running now. Thanks alot!
Roland should employ you to do a proper video manual! When a new Sp mk2 user opens their boxfresh unit there should be a qr code that literally takes them right to you! SUPERB training manual and real life scenarios here. thank you man jb xx
Hey brother, thank you so much for these kind words and your feedback. I really appreciate you taking the time and sharing this input. Blessings to you🙏🏽🙏🏽
Hey Khalid, I highly appreciate you dropping by it really means a lot coming from you as I watch a lot of your videos on how you put together some of your tracks. Really means a lot coming from your brother. Blessings to you
Dude I’ve always been intimated to use the pattern sequencer I just couldn’t wrap my head around it, but you covered everything in depth and I’m excited to start making my patterns
I’ve watched a bunch of tutorials on the 404mkii, this by far was the most clear and easy to follow. Feel like I’m final starting to understand this thing. Thank you!!
Great video! I have just got one of these, i am a complete beginner and have wanted something like this for a while. After playing with the stock samples a little I am now ready to start making my own sounds and this is very helpful. Thanks
I really enjoyed this video! This is a very similar way to make sequences with MPCs so it is very easy to understand it for me. This could be my basic way of making beats with sp404mk2! However, I can't purchase sp404mk2 in Japan nowadays because of out of stock so I pre-ordered it to enjoy making beats ASAP!
You have no idea how much time this is going to save me, thank you so much for taking the time and sharing this with us. Blessings to you brother 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
This video is very helpful and important. You answered all my questions I had with the sequencer. Omg when everyone get their 404 this video is going to blast off. Like there is no video like this. I’m glad you did it bro. Keep helping & creating. Malo Da Goat 🐐 !!! 💯
Thank you for this. Really wish there was a way to edit the placement of the samples on a grid after recording it yo the pattern. Sucks having to delete and re-record each time.
You have no idea how glad I am that you mentioned this since this has been a pet peeve of mine. I’m definitely gonna be looking into this. Thank you again for this valuable information brother
Heck yea man. It's awesome to see you start drilling into a workflow on this particular machine. It's all about repetition. Can't wait...t minus 5 weeks haha.
Hey Seth, Thank you brother appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and share your feedback. Yes hopefully they were able to ship this out sooner since I know they’ve been extremely backed up with these

Hey brother, just read his message and also just downloaded the new 2.0 update which has been awesome. Blessings to you and thank you for dropping by and checking out the video.
Hey fam! Amazing work-I’m still vibing with this even after two years! Could you share what filter or color grading you used in the intro? Also, what font or template did you go with for the title and its color? It’s such a vibe!
I bought this and Mpc live 2together and currently having fun with mPC LIVE 2 to lay down the beats ( GOAT ) and using sp404 to import the tracks to add the finals effect touches. Hope MPC LIVE 2 able to integrate together with SP404 directly ....due to the 48HZ issue
Your MK2 videos are helping me learn this machine! Question: how do you get the intro, verse, chorus on the same pad so its like a song? Do you have to load it into your DAW or can it be done on the 404?
It would be nice if SP artists started using effects other than isolator or djfx looper on their 16s. Did you know that on the MK2, you can change which effects are on the quick effects buttons?
Such a helpful video, thank you so much! My pattern adds an extra bar of silence after I try to record something - even after checking project tempo, sample tempo, looping the sample, etc. Does anyone know what the deal might be?
Yeah bro this sounds just as good as a mpc if not better if they do a lil more improving on the sequencer would you say it's on the same level with only 16 tracks?
Very helpful tutorial, thanks! question- I forget if the SP 404 Mk2 had an SD card included? I bought Mk2 a few months ago and moved and not sure if I misplaced the SD or if there was none. If anyone knows, I would appreciate it. Thanks.
@@malobeats ya for a machine known for the FX, I feel like they skimped on the ability to use FX on individual pads with only 4 bus FX for all... would have been nice to be able to effect each pad separate... including a sidechain option... also wish you could nudge sounds off beat too, not just play them in, like a step sequencer view and parameter locks would blow the mind...
Great vid, thanks so much. I'm having a strange issue when changing from pattern to pattern... It changes the moment i press the pad, it doesn't finish out the remaining bars before changing to the next pattern... Is there a setting i have wrong somewhere? Much thanks..

Nice! Was watching this video as i struggle with quantise settings and just end up doing everything un quantised but i struggle not playing on the grid but i want really swung beats. Am i better off messing with the percentage of quantise or using the swing setting? I ended up learning on your video that you can record the 16 levels in pattern mode! I thought you had to resample the levels! I always just tried to be careful with the velocity of my hits!
Hey brother thank you so much for dropping by and taking the time to watch the video, and I would recommend just messing with the percentage of the quantization to get a better feel and groove since I feel like the shuffle feature is not as useful since I don’t hear much of a difference. And yes you are able to record the 16 level velocity mode in pattern mode which has been very useful since I’m always on the full level pad function and every now and then I will use the 16 level mode.
@@malobeats was one of most informative videos i've seen so far! I actually have managed to get good results since i sent that post.
