Objective opinion incoming. BAND-MAID are my fave band ever & Mincho is my fave member but do i think she's one of the very top pinnacle of technical players ever? No. But i think her compositional skills & ability to play everything with absolute feeling is second to none & i'd rather have that any day of the week than tuneless, million note, technical noodle fests.🙂
Kanami's is truly a great guitarist in an ocean of great guitarists. The thing that sets her apart from many others is her compositional abilities. Her sweet and humble demeanor mandates that her role is to serve the song and not her ego. She gives the song what it requires, and no more. She said she prefers to write "starting at zero". Starting at "one" presents a challenge for her. In other words,an authentic Kanami composition lends itself to whatever genre she sees fit to place it in.
@@GaryHolloway-810 Thanks Gary ! 😁🍻 Many try to minimize the adulation we Maidiacs show to Kanami. As far as I remember, you are the first reactor calling this "the metal version of Flight of the bumblebee"! I've been calling this "the rock version of Flight of the bumblebee" ever since they released this song, but nobody seems to agree with me🤔 Your comment made my day, PO!🕊💕 Kanami is a very good guitarist but not among the top level guitarists, imo. But she is one of the very best composers, and probably the best rock composer currently.
Kanami is my favorite. But I wouldn't feel comfortable giving some sort of "objective best" ranking. I know there are guitarists out there who could play everything she has written, but I don't know of any who have written things I like as much.
As @frankandre4385 said, there is "...an ocean of great guitarists" and, so many are technical masters. However, there are those particular few that have a style, an ability to move the hearts of many. Carlos Santana may not be the fastest or the most technical guitarist, for example, but you can't ignore his prowess of making his guitar sing and bring the listener into the experience. Kanami is also one of those few that can take you places few others can. Yes, Kanami is one of the very special artists.
I think Kanami mentioned she had to specifically practice the guitar riffs for this song for a while to be able to play what she had composed. If you listen to the studio version, the riffs are more apparent. I don't consider Kanami the best technical guitarist out there, but she has a unique sound that is recognizable and she composes such tasteful or 'necessary' stuff for herself in these songs. She will learn whatever she has to to achieve these. And per her band mates, she likes fast songs...
The original DVD from the Sense release is quite good, this looks like a composite video rip of the DVD. This is the same recording session as the live "Why why why" came from. Kanami was emotionally impacted by the pandemic lockdown when Unseen World was composed, and her frustration and angst can be heard throughout this album. Giovanni, HGK, Black Hole, Why Why Why, After Life, I Still Seek Revenge, there's a lot of guitar angst.
Kanami is up there with all my long time favourite guitarists( eg Clapton, Hendrix, Page, Gilmour, Carlos Santana, Rory Gallagher etc) as are Miyako and Midori from Lovebites. The thing is all of them are very different from each other in play style, composition and guitar tones so comparing or ranking them doesn't make sense to me. I will say though that Kanami is my favourite composer of rock songs, to maintain such high quality and variety as she has over such a large catalogue really is astonishing to me and she still seems to be getting better after 11 years which is frankly ridiculous.
No! No No not a rabbit hole…a pigeon hole PO! Many have commented you’re ready for Ohrenje documentaries…these will give you more a perspective of each member’s personalities! 🤘🕊️🦍🥷👸🏻👀PO!
H-G-K is a guidance system for bombs dropped from aircraft (as stated by Miku). I think those lyrics fit perfectly in to the frenetic pace of the song.
Great reaction and I believe that this was one of their live streaming concert during covid lock down. If I remember correctly the video quality was better then what you have. Anyway, this is a fun song that takes off like a Turkish rocket. Thanks for the reaction to Band-Maid.

Kanami is a total 1 off,No she is not the best guitarist out there in an ocean of guitar heroes, and from that ocean comes a tiny Japanese lady, with no ego or bravado, and just plays what she feels in her heart,,No other guitar player sounds like her ,and i love her for that reason,as i said she is a 1 off legend in her own lifetime.
Where do I rank Kanami as a guitarist? Right at the top. Why? Because I listen to her music EVERY SINGLE DAY. That's why. What other measuring stick do I need?
You need to watch Ohrenje's documentaries. There's one for each of them and three for founder Miku. Where's Kanami as a guitarist? Well, she's not the technician like they have in Aldious or LOVEBITES, but would you want her to be? I'm sure if she was in that kind of band she would rise to the occasion with practice. But her real strength is writing. And she can play anything she can write. Frankly, those other bands don't have the songs. BAND-MAID does, and not just a few. Those other bands would be lucky to have BAND-MAID's worst song. And as far as LOVEBITES goes, when their own founder and bassist left they hired Fami, the most Noodle Meister Show Off Bassist in the world and then they put her on a leash. WT actual F?
Kanami (Non gender)..... as a "guitarist" .?:?:? she is easily in MY top 20 fav all time guitarists. However for Song writers...... Top 5. No doubt. With the high quality of her high quantity, for me, she is up there with he legends.... for me!!!!!

And again...make sure you react to The One. The harmony is heavenly. Their latest album is packed with ideas, best vocals ever. Honestly, vocals and even Kanami's performance were inconsistent during covid period. Not having the real audience or health or both must have affected them.

I also believe if she were given any playing challenge she would rise to meet it. I think what marks her as an actual genius is that everything she does is different from anything else, she can always find another surprise for us.

Good review/reaction! Ranks are wack. Gary H. put it perfectly in his comment. BandMaid is the greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century IMHO.
Mincho is great, but hardly the greatest guitarist. However, she does her own thing with as much confidence as anyone I know of. (Which is a Band-Maid trademark.) Thanks for the reaction!
If you’re talking about shredders who can play live professionally, Kanami’s mid… or at least everything she’s shown us is mid. There are tons of amazing guitar players in the world. But very few of those shredders can compose like her.
Is she one of the best in the world? No. Is she one of the most interesting and consistent ear wormy guitarists? Yes. I like to call musicians like her "practical and user friendly". What I mean by that is, she is really good technically, but not over technical like a Yngwie Malmstein to where as impressive as he is, he is nye unlistenable for normal people. She has mastered the art of being just technical enough to pull in the music nerds and still catchy and musical enough to pull in everyone else. This skill is what seperates her from most of the pack. Most guitarists are either one or the other, rarely both.
