I've been trying to figure out how to remove that lever ever since I got this lathe in 1995. I thought I'd found a place where a grub screw might be lurking but the whole thing has been overpainted (horribly) and I wasn't sure. Thanks for confirming it. Maybe now I can get the pesky thing off. Somehow it's been moved to the wrong position and the gears don't engage properly. I'd love to be able to use this feature since it's the last part of the lathe that I need to fix. It was pretty beat up when I got it. Wish me luck, I still have to find a way to extract this gummed-up screw and it's partner.
Hi Ian, I've been following your series of lathe stripdown videos with great interest as I have just acquired a super 7 and wish to give it a full stripdown and service before starting to use it. You mentioned getting hold of instructions for the process off the Myford Facebook page. I've been on their page and can see no reference to such documents. Please could you give me a pointer as to where to find it. Your videos have a been a great help thus far . . many thanks
ybliga have you joined the Facebook group? You can only see the reference section if you do so, join it’s a good group full of friendly folk, if not then I can email you a copy
Hi Ian - thanks for your reply. I suspected I might have to "join" but couldn't see anywhere on the page where I could do so - just share, like or follow. I'm looking at the "Myford Ltd" Facebook page - maybe not the correct site. Doesn't appear to be anything posted since circa 2016.
Just remember Ian, someones put it in, so you can tek it bits. Just had a thought about that broken gear tooth. Difficult to repair, however there are a great number of machinists on UA-cam. I am SURE someone with equipment would be only too happy to make you a new one.
I use them three legged bearing pulleys for crack arms for bikes it's you out of trouble if the thread are to far gone and carnt recurt them normally I use a crank puller.. any way less of that bore yes them three legged bearing puller way to go and pull the handle off
@@Man-in-da-shed haha great :D. But cool that you write back that fast. One Question: Is your excentric rod also safed with a washer and a a socket countersunk screw? Because it seems you have longer rod with which the backgear can be safed with a circlip.
