    Your mold is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for all your efforts. You're clearly a patient gal. :-)

    You did this upside down and could've saved yourself a lot of cutting if you had glued the bars down to a non-porous surface, made a box to contain the liquid silicone rubber and then just poured the rubber into the mold to cover the bars. Let it cure, de-molded it and done. No trimming, cutting etc.

      ... I think she made the mold to line the box, like most soap molds do...

      Either way you will have to trim as some of the sylicone will seep under. I like doing it this way as I have more control of that.

      What is the name of the catalyst used with the silicon for making the mold.

    Thanks for the idea... I had no idea I couldcmake my own silicone molds, but I have to agree with somebody else's comment... You should have put the bars of soap in first and then put the silicone in on top of it... It would have made the process a lot easier

      yes! just find a good way to make the soap stick to the bottom so they don't float up ;)

    I am totally confused how you made the cavities in your mold . You showed the bottom part of the mold and then you let it set for 24 hours,, the next day you show the removing of the soap, what happen to the rest of the mold making with the cavities?

    • @Sourpatchmom725
      @Sourpatchmom725 7 років тому +5

      Day 1 she poured the base and let it set. Day 2 she took actual soap bars in the shape she wanted, weighed them down and poured silicone down between the bars to make the cavities. Day 5 she unmolded.

      ogbonna martin uzoma it depends on the individual brand of silicone, but it is always stated on the packet exactly how much product to catalyst.

      Actually you can, there is a UA-cam video that describes how to recycle silicone molds to make new ones. It saves you 50% on making a new mold.

    • @LouiseFranksArt
      @LouiseFranksArt 5 років тому +1

      Rachelle Lang agreed, you can use it for bulk, to reduce amount of fresh silicone product needed.
